Bonjour, today it's time for some post-special-event-day mediocrity. I shuffled around in my Rococo Wardrobe for an outfit to wear and came out with my Blue-Check Tee and Blue Warm-Up Pants. Casual, but that's just the way I like it. I emerged from my house and noticed that, for once, I didn't have any mail. I guess that means I forgot to order some new t-shirts yesterday. I made a mental note to definitely do that today at T&T before I set off to make my daily rounds.
Today, Buck was the first friend that I saw. I ran up to talk to him and this is what he said:

He then asked, "But what would you know about it?"
Oh? Is that a come-on? As flattered as I am, Buck, I'm not entirely interested. But maybe you could convince me... Without hesitation, I ran down to my house to grab him a lemon from my dresser. He did ask for sour fruit, after all. I found him right where I left him and handed it over and, to my relief (and perhaps very slight disappointment), he didn't offer me a kiss. Instead, he gave me a Folk Shirt, which I was much happier to receive. Yet another addition to my catalog.
Aside from that, I didn't find anything out of the ordinary on my patrol today. I did miss one fossil and the pitfall seed, though. Maybe someone already fell in the hole today. However, most of my friends were abuzz with excitement today. Chief ran over to me and told me that he went to visit another town, when "some crazy fox-dude" approached him outside the train station and told him that he had a good eye for art. "Or something like that." He told me he ended up buying a Wistful Painting that he didn't want, and having failed to contribute a real one just the other day, I eagerly bought it off of him. I took it to the museum along with my fossils and, behold, it was legit! Seems like just about every piece of art I've bought from Chief has been real. Thanks, bud!
After that, I noticed the smoke from Wart Jr.'s chimney and decided to check in on him. Adorably enough, I found him dozing right in the middle of his room, where he stood. I admired his restfulness for a moment before waking him, for which he was thankful. But his face was priceless.

When he got his bearings, he told me that when Felicity came to hang out with him the other day, "something got left behind." I hoped and prayed it wasn't any clothing, and agreed to take it over to her to find out.
On my way to Felicity's, I ran into Mitzi. She asked me if I would catch a Wharf Roach for her, and agreed since I really did need to make a trip to the island. I vowed to do that as soon as I caught up with everyone else.
When I walked into Felicity's house, I was deeply hurt by what I saw. She had changed her clothes! Already! I guess she really didn't like my gift to her as much as she said she did. She was now wearing one of Storrs's old flag designs, and didn't even display the Citrus Tee in her room. I expect it to show up at Re-Tail soon, actually. Anyway, I gave her the box from Wart Jr. To my relief, it was only a piece of furniture. She said she had already bought a replacement, and didn't offer me that one or even a gift for helping her out. Whatever did I do to hurt Felicity's feelings?
Exiting her house, I saw Fang hanging around the apple trees. I talked to him and he wanted to come over to my house right away. Of course I agreed; Fang's never been to my house before! I gave him the grand tour, and he praised me for my "classy taste" with my Tea Table and Lucky Frog. After he'd seen all there is to see, he saw himself out and I went back to my stroll.
I noticed Whitney was home and stopped in to see what she was up to. She told me that she saw a strange man lying on the beach, and that meant Gulliver! I thanked her for the heads up and ran down to the beach to find him. After some prying he finally came to and told me that he was going to a land with glorious tulip fields surrounding their many windmills. Scandinavia instantly came to mind, but I wasn't entirely sure what country it would be. Of the choices he gave me, The Netherlands rang a bell. Dutch windmills! That jogged his memory and he promised to send me a souvenir. Can't wait.
Since I was down at the beach, I decided to hop on over to the island for a bit. I paid Kapp'n the 1,000 bells and we set sail. On the island, I borrowed a net and stalked several wharf roaches before I managed to catch one. I'd forgotten how difficult those little buggers are to get. I stashed it in the souvenir box and browsed today's selection in the island shop. Unfortunately there were no hibiscus starts, so I'll have to wait a day or two before I can get some for Fang's pathway. I bought a Red Aloha Tee and Mermaid Screen for my catalog, which I later sold to Reese.
I figured I would go on a couple of tours to make my trip worthwhile and opted for the Elite Hide-and-Seek Tour first. I noticed that the houses in the play area looked inhabited and thought I'd check and see whose houses they might be.

Yeah. Makes sense.
After I got a bronze medal for that, I played the Official Fossil Tour next and scored a gold medal. I wasn't up for any more, so I made my way back to town. As soon as I got off the boat, I saw Mitzi walking around by the dock so I could quickly give my wharf roach to her. She was very happy and gave me a Box Corner Sofa for my troubles.
Making my way back up to town, I saw Deirdre down by the Fire Pit. She told me how much she enjoys the Fire Pit and that every time she goes near it, it makes her want to go camping. In light of that, maybe I should rebuild it over by the campsite someday in the distant future.
I found Chief again, this time by the big tree in the plaza. He told me yet again that some creepy fox-dude sold him a painting he didn't need. This time it was a Moving Painting, which I quickly bought off of him since he's been so accurate with the artwork lately. I ran that one up to Blathers, but unfortunately it was fake. I figured I'd take the opportunity to take inventory on all of my paintings so I went into the art hall and started checking them off. The first one I checked was the Wild Painting, and what I learned from its description made me squeal.

Fujin and Raijin! So the two Final Fantasy VIII bullies are actually named after gods of wind and thunder. Huh. The more you know. x)
To wrap up my recap of the day, I'll briefly share today's activities at the Roost. Today my customers were all locals. Wart Jr. and Whitney were first, and I have figured out both of their special combinations, and they were pleased with the results. Fang was next, and I tried my hardest to please him on his first visit. I remembered conversing with him at the bar a few days ago when he told me that he likes three sugars in his coffee. I added lots of milk as well, and guessed at a Blend roast. Chief was sitting at the bar today and told me that was his preference, so I assumed it may be Fang's as well since they have so much in common. And I was right! Fang was very happy with his drink and said he would be back for more. Last was Phyllis and I know from her complaints the last few times that she doesn't like milk or sugar. Can't forget that the bitter lady likes bitter coffee. I guessed a Blue Mountain roast this time, and she mumbled that it wasn't Kilimanjaro on her way out. That settles that.
And so my day didn't seem quite so mediocre after the festivities of yesterday. Sorry for such a long drawl!
