Currently the cheapest WiiWare game, Defend Your Castle is a remake of the highly popular web-browser game. Though the web-browser game is free to play, the WiiWare version is not, thus making some people not wanting to download the WiiWare version. That is the correct thing to do, right?

As the name suggests, Defend Your Castle focuses on defending your castle against hordes of villagers that are attacking your castle. In order to stop them, you must pick them up and throw them skyward, resulting in them plummeting against the hard, flat, ground.

Sounds pretty simple, right? Well as the game progresses, the difficulty greatly increases. The first ten fifteen levels are breeze. Very few enemies appear and when they do appear, all you have to do is flick them into the sky and they are dead. However, in the higher levels, enemies are constantly coming at you resulting in a very difficult battle with the villagers.

Defend Your Castle!

In Defend Your Castle, there are several different types of enemies ranging from the standard stick man enemy to a giant stick man figure with an enormous head. Though all these enemies won

Graphically, Defend Your Castle is lacking. The graphics look as though they were drawn by a toddler. In addition to this, they are very simplistic. On top of this, there is also no background music. While fighting, all you will hear will be the screams of villagers dying.

This was intended. It's the style of the game. It's supposed to look like a bunch of doodles, hence the fact that the main enemies are stick figures. I think that the style is really cool, it's been done, obviously. But it really fits the game. I wouldn't go near the game if the enemies were full-3D people, that would just kill the idea.

As far as the music goes, I agree. there should have been background music. But the sound effects are amazing. Once again, the style of it is great. I found that one of my favorite parts of the game was all the funny sounds you can make, such as when the stick figures whimper if you hold them up in the air long enough, the "splooooosh" sound when you hit a kamikaze, and the high-pitched "yaaaaaaa!" the Popsicle-Stick wielding dudes make when they're attacking the castle. I love the fact that nearly all the sound effects are done verbally.

From a game going from a Flash game to a WiiWare game, I wouldn't expect it to have mind-blowing graphics, that would ruin the game. I think Xgen made a good move by not changing the style of the game, which I loved in the first place.

2.Graphics: 4/10
The game looks horrible, but the graphics fit the game quite well.

My thoughts exactly.

The visuals of a game shouldn't be whether they look nice, it should be whether they are artistic or not and if they fit the game.

Exactly. Plus, the thought of flinging even mildly realistic people into the air and letting them splat on the ground is repulsive.

I know, a popsicle stick is totally a weapon!
Those things are dangerous, I once stabbed myself in the eye with one before. Remember kids, I'm Gary the no trash cougar, remember to pick up after yourselves
