Maybe they just didn't have any friends registered in that clip. It make so much since to be able to send post cards to other islands. But idk we will see. I hope it is there.

Yeah this was a feature I was really hoping to see! Even if we can't attach items to the letters, I really wanted to be able to write to friends.

Omg I didn't know this was a feature in City Folk since my first AC was New Leaf. I wanted them to add a feature like this too because the fact that you have to go to your friend's post office to send a letter didn't make much sense. But let's hope they do

Wouldn't suprise me if they didn't include it after Swapnote 3DS, which they disabled due to various reasons , sending letters over the online would pretty much be the same i guess you could end up people sending Nasty messages ?

Perhaps that's still Pelly and Phyllis's job? They were absent from the direct along with multiple other NPC's, not everything was shown in the direct and that's not a problem, we don't want the entire game to be spoiled so I think it's just a matter of waiting to play the game so we can find out.

They might include it in the game, because what we saw from the Direct looked like the beginning of the game itself, before the character made any friends or even developed the island. So who knows? It would be a nice feature to have again.

If they did this, I also wonder how it'll work - if you don't have an online account, or you let it expire, will you be unable to send online letters? I assume no, but it just depends on how they implement it.

I really hope this is a feature that will return. Even with ACNL's best friend chatting feature, I really liked having the ability to send mail to friends whether or not they were online at the time of sending it.

We still have yet to see how messages in a bottle work, and whether or not Pelly, Pete, and Phyllis will be back along with a post office, so there's still a chance.

Writing letters to other people would be fun and they could lock it behind having both players be best friends with each other to stop someone from harassing or writing nasty stuff to a stranger.

Honestly, almost every single feature I've wanted in this game has appeared in some shape or form... from transparent patterns to expansive island customisation. Sending letters to online friends was another one of my wishes, so I'm hoping it was just a small detail they didn't show because no friends were registered on that demo or something. I mean, they brought back message in a bottle so they could possibly bring this back too!

That would be really cool actually. The NPCs are always getting new jobs and roles so they could make a return and be in charge of this feature. Or it could be one of those things where you talk to NPC X amount of times before they give you the option to send letters online. I understand if Nintendo would leave this feature out though because they want to control letter sending incase the contents aren't family friendly. It could be that they replaced this type feature with the switch online phone chat thing instead.

My theory brain is thinking this as well. Especially since there are postcards, there would have to be something to make the post office special. Other than seeing our favorite pelican friends, of course.
