Happy Home Designer gave the player the option to design villagers houses. If the new
game would offer this option too: Would you use it? If so, what's very important for you
if you re-design the houses? Or do you not care about how the villager houses looks like?
And how would you like the idea of villagers asking the player to re-design their houses,
as like a request of them?

Personally, I would sometimes design the houses for my villagers if I get bored or when
I think that I can make the houses looking better or when a villager would just ask me
to do it. Otherwise, I don't really care how the houses looks like inside. I mean, if they
have like 10 shirts around them and no furniture then yeah... I guess I would re-design
it because it would kinda bother me after a while to be honest.

I would like this. But i'd like it even more if you had a mini-game that plays just like Happy Home Designer. And you can share the designs and get more praise from it because its on a core animal crossing game.

Hmm I'd like to design their houses... That could add a whole new layer to players who want to create story towns. But I'm not sure to what extent they'll include HHD's features into the new game. Let's say if we reprise our roles as mayors, maybe being an interior designer on top of that is too much to squeeze in? Idk. Redesigning villager houses are not my top priority but I do want to be able to design new facilities that appear in town or on main street. Introducing that idea of facilities like Hotel and School in HHD really makes me wish they will make some kind of appearance in the next game!

It would be cute if they brought back some kind of Flea Market event like in Wild World where we can buy and trade furniture too. So maybe we don't get to actually design the place but we have a say in what goes in and out.

Maybe, but I don't think the player should get complete control, but only give advice in dialogue, e.g:

Villager: My roof is looking a bit weathered. Do you think it could do with a fresh lick of paint?
Player: Yes / No
Villager (if yes): Hmm... but what colour?
Player: Red / Blue / Green / Yellow / Orange / Pink / Brown / Black / etc.

I really like this idea! I mean, I would never give another person full control over my home's interior, so why would your villagers? This is a nice middle ground between having full control and the amount of control we have over their interiors currently (in ACNL).

I was thinking of something like this, but perhaps with limitations

like say maybe you can only use certain furniture and other items that the villager in question already owns

and also maybe have things like villagers just wanting to work on one spot or fit a new item someplace, or won't want to move certain items, etc

Yes, I would want this.
It's sometimes difficult to remove unwanted items they've put in their houses.
Accidentally accepting one bad prompt becomes a long wait of waiting for the right one then, and that's only if they mean the right spot.

I never really understood why people cared so much about the design of villagers’ houses. I don’t honestly care what their house looks like. I think the game is more fun and less stressful when the villagers decorate and design their own houses. It takes the fun and stress-free concept out of the game when everyone is trying to make their town perfect.

I'm not too concerned with the exact design of my villager's interiors. Exteriors however, are a really big issue in my opinion. There are a lot of villagers who I actually really like, but their exteriors would make my town look a lot worse. Drift and Admiral's abandoned looking shacks are particularly painful to look at and I wish there was a way to change it.

I’d like villagers not putting bugs and crap in their house when I do a request for them

Their exteriors? Yes. The insides? Maybe just a request to go back to having their original furniture.

No. Unless maybe it's a request type-deal, like if you have a high-friendship rating with a villager and they ask you to redecorate their house for them. Personally, I'm not the type to go through and redecorate someone else's house, but I suppose a feature wouldn't be the worst thing. Themed towns may also benefit from this. But, personally, it's not something I really desire being in the game.

I'm only into it if it's with some of the limitations that others have mentioned. If the game forced me to design each villagers' house it'd start to feel less like I'm a villager/mayor living amongst my neighbors and more like they're props for me to change at whim. I'm just not interested in having that much control.

Oh, that's a pretty good solution. Just the right amount of control imo. Like helping them choose a new catchphrase. I think it would be too much if you decide on everything your villagers do with their place. I know I wouldn't want a mayor like that. Assuming you still get to be mayor in the new game, of course X)
I like my villagers to have a life of their own. What's wrong with leaving some things up to chance?

I think it would be cute as a request from the villagers but I don?t wanna be designing 10 houses or less be force or nothing. :p
