Did they say how many villagers could stay on the island?

I know they said 8 players for multiplayer, but I dont remember them saying 10 villagers max like on New Leaf.

I would really like to see that number turn to 12 or something.

I hope we can choose.
I have a busy life and would rather make the rounds with less animals.
Six would be a good amount for me.

So far we only know that we’ll be starting out with two, and can later “invite” more to the Island somehow.

I would like to see somewhere between 10-15 Villagers as well, but somehow have a feeling that they won’t increase the limit by much.

What I’m most curious about right now is whether new Animals only join after receiving an invitation from us, or whether they can still arrive unannounced.
While I appreciate control over my game, I’d also still like to see some unexpected move-ins occur.

(Also, welcome to the forums!)

I'm really interested to see how this whole invite system will play out, kinda speculating it may be something along the lines of what has been implemented in pocket camp

i don't see us getting the max of 15 we've seen in previous mainline animal crossings. i feel like we'll see the return of the 10 villager limit just to give us breathing room for buildings and furniture outdoors.

No it wasn't confirmed.

I wanted at least 15 but after seeing the map, I hope the limit is 12. I would even settle for 10 again.

The town size just doesnt support the villager cap I wanted, especially since it sounds like we have to build a bunch of shops and facilities on the island.

I know, I found the island to be very underwhelming in terms of size. Thats why I am hoping that there are multiple islands that you can travel to. It would be nice if as you progress and pay off your loan Tom Nook invests the money into buying other islands to have other inhabitants on. Either that or hopefully the island is a lot bigger than we think and that the grid covers more land then we think. I think it was 6x6 when I looked at it, but the entire surrounding area was basically water and mountain.

I know. Somebody did some rough math and said the map is almost as big as city Folk but it really doesnt look like it. The grassy area is only 4?4. Theres one segment in the treehouse stream where the player comes from her house all the way up to the villagers house in like 5 seconds. That was half the size of the map, vertically . You can put houses and stuff on the beach this time but still. That's just the beach. It would nice if animal villagers could live on the beach too but that's not confirmed either.

You also have to remember that was just basically a demo for New Horizons, that doesn't mean that's actually going to be the size of the maps. The game is about nine months away, there's plenty of time for them to beef up the map and a few additions. They probably didn't want to show everything that's going to be in it, just a small little portion.

12 sounds like the number that we would get if the villagers count increases in “Animal Crossing: New Horizons”.

I think an even number is what the game intends just so a player can have a town with an equal number of male and female villagers. That is a design of the game.

It also makes sense for encouraging balance—and that balance includes maintaining the representation of all villager personalities.

They didn't say anything about this so far, but I hope it's at least 10 again, nice if it would be 12 or 15.
Hope they not gonna pull a Wild World and only allow you to have 8 villagers in total. Would kinda sucks
but I think it's not gonna be the case.

I don't recall them ever mentioning anything, but I hope it'll be at least 10. Increasing the count (perhaps in the 12-15 range?) would be neat, but that all depends on how big the map is. Especially with knowing that a total of 8 characters can live on the island, I wouldn't want a huge amount if that made the island seem too crowded. I'm genuinely really curious as to how big the map will be? I swear there has to be at least 10 villagers though because they're more important than the extra playable characters. I feel like a ratio of 8:12 would be reasonable?

I think they will have around 10-12 villagers on the island and if the map is bigger than than the map in New Leaf, maybe 12-15. I wouldn't want it to be more than 15 though. That's too many villagers to keep track of. xD
