Amiibo and Pro Controller confirmed as well!!

Thank the Lord... Pro Controller works. JoyCons are WAAAAY too small for me! Though, I think Pro Controllers were confirmed from the Tree House gameplay from E3?

6.2GB, though... not very large! Granted, Animal Crossing was never a huge series to begin with. New Leaf was pretty small as well!

Uuuh the small text on the black background says you can't transfer save data between switches... That sucks.

I think it's because you can have multiple villagers with different profiles on the same island but still..

What do you do if your switch breaks and cloud save isn't a thing too??

Yeah, that's strange. How do you share your island between your Switch and Switch Lite?

Also, I don't understand the desire to use the Pro Controller. I imagine I'll be sitting on my couch with a Joy-Con in each hand...one to move around, and the other to cast the pole or net with motion.

I would never buy digital.
I like a game I can hold in my hand. :)

Most first-party Nintendo games are surprisingly small in filesize by contemporary third-party standards, and this has been true since the Gamecube era. They're extremely talented at building a collection of high-quality assets that can piece together like LEGO to build a scene without you being aware of the repetition.

In Animal Crossing's case in particular, the simple aesthetic allows them to go even further with this approach, as they can sketch with large, impressionistic brush strokes rather than needing super-fine detailing other series need.

Awe yeah time to use the amiibos I got at Target buying 3 get 1 free and of course the ones I bought at 5 Below for 5 bucks. Took that advantage for this day.

Nothing. Your town is gone.

The same thing that has always happened if you happen to break your game disc (aka save data). Just that the Switch is a lot harder to break than a thin game disc. I don't understand the negative hysteria about that.

Same goes for the seemingly popular fear of Switch consoles being stolen.

It just bothers me because other games have cloud save and therefore the option to be restored even if the switch breaks. It's not likely to happen but I just don't understand why they take away the option.

I love the amiibo compatibility - but we need to know how it will work... like yesterday.

I love the Pro controller compatibility. Whenever I play my Switch, 99% of the time the console is docked, and 95% of the time it will be with the Pro controller.

Gutted. I?m away in the USA on launch day for work so was planning on preloading it and activating it whilst away and then playing it on the flight back and then setting up my new limited edition AC switch when I got back home to the UK and transferring it all over to that. Looks like I can?t do that now. :(

Are we sure this is for digital? Looks like the back of the box.

generally digital download sizes are the same as the game size on the cart for first party nintendo games.

that doesn't include the size of any updates or DLC though.

Oh ok, thanks!

Also, isn't digital the only way to play the game on two different switches at the same time. Granted, they're two different Islands, but with a physical copy, I'd have to buy two.

Well if you have multiple Switch's you can have multiple islands with one copy of the game.

This is really weird. I hope it's just poorly written and trying to say that we can't back up our save to the cloud and download it to another console.

You'd think logically that disallowing save transfers entirely would make no sense considering they're selling the console separately from the game. That means someone might buy the game and play it before getting the special edition AC Switch. It would completely rule out an entire segment of the market that might wanna buy it.

I'm gonna wait for more clarification on this before coming to a conclusion.

The size is around 8,192 blocks just for the game itself. That's supposedly about 1GB of storage. Then there's the save file data, which will take up a bit more. Take note, there's a possibility that the size might be a bit bigger or smaller depending on the text changes and/or content additions.

The game is apparently 1GB so 6.2GB is alot compared to New Leaf. Also, that doesn't include space needed for your save data, that is for all the game assests/code. You'll need atleast 1-2GB data for save space most likely.

I can see where you're coming from, but the save file is being stored locally on the switch, so if you lose your switch you'll lose your save file either way, regardless of owning the digital or physical copy.

Except when going digital, you can re-download the game at no extra cost to a new console as long as it is linked to your existing Nintendo account.

I have my amiibo cards ready!
