The Gold points were useful for paying for games and DLC when you were a bit short on funds. I like Platinum Points more though because you can use them to get stuff to make your own avatar on the Switch.

A bit of a shame, as I primarily purchased physical copies of games instead of digital and thus got some usage out of Gold Points. I've benefited from the savings they provide a few times. That said, the Switch 2 is on the horizon, so it's understandable that a service like this would end in the lead up to that. Still not sold on the Switch 2 personally, especially with all of the stuff going on in the US politically that will likely affect the economy. Wouldn't want to be Nintendo, trying to sell a console this year.
But yeah, a bit disappointing but ultimately unsurprising.

A lot are saying who cares, but to me money was money so it was nice to have that little bit to pay off purchases or whatever. Sure it was usually pocket change or a few dollars at most, but again that's money I didn't have to put out.
It's a shame they decided to discontinue it early this year, rather than wait a little longer (e.g. after the Switch 2 is out, or next year).

Dang, I didn't think that Nintendo would actually do this. Gold points for me usually make a small dent in reducing the price of purchases at checkout (since I don't have too many to begin with), but it still helps a ton shaving off a few dollars in the long run.

Too bad, I always used those to get a small discount on games. Glad I just recently spent a bunch of my platinum points because now I wonder if they will go away next.

Those did play for some Monster Hunter Rise cosmetic things like a summer themed background theme for the hub town.
I'm going to miss gold points!! I love them. I never end up touching the silver/platinum points but I'll regularly use my gold points. They've been super nice for when games go on sale for just a few dollars! I picked up Pixel Cafe today for free with them.

Same. I also used them to help pay for games that I am short on funds for. I got the Hello Kitty Adventure Island DLC with a combination of funds and Gold Points by purchasing the base game first and then used the remaining amount of the $60 I put into my funds for the DLC because I was a bit short if I tried to buy the Deluxe Edition of the game.

My brother definitely used to buy more physical copies of games when they came out to try and earn gold points. Now we'll probably wait until the games go on sale because we have such a backlog of games to play anyway
I totally forgot these golden coins were going away, its a shame and I'll miss the little discounts it provided...hopefully they make something similar in the future since its helpful and a small incentive to buy games (plus in other currency eshops was lifesaver too!)

I used my last Gold Coins to pay for a jigsaw puzzle game which was on sale this week for $1.99. I only had 4 left but I used them before the service ended.
Drat, I don't remember the last time I earned some gold points. Wish I had enough money on my card to buy something I really wantt, I could grab a quick discounted wish list game though.
