So, I just want to know exactly what stuff is behind the paid DLC that isn't available in the Free 2.0.0 Update.
I do know that the DLC is about setting up Vacation homes in the archipelago and the pillars and dividers are DLC only as well. And I think? that being able to decorate villager homes exterior and interior on your own island is through the DLC only and not the free update. However I have been hearing about how people are finding new diys. Are the diys behind the DLC only? Or, are they available through the free update as well. Are there any items that are DLC only as well that isn't included in the free update? What other stuff are there to make note of?

Realistically, the only thing locked behind the DLC that directly effects your main island is the ability to modify your island villager's homes and an extra store to purchase furniture from daily, among other small various bonus perks.

All the DIYs, Furniture, etc, as far as I can tell, are from the Version 2.0.0 update. DLC only unlocks features and has very few DLC-only items.

These are double spoilered, so seriously click at your own risk:

  1. A bonus message in a bottle spawns on the HHP island's beach, daily.
  2. The head chef from the restaurant will give you a cooking DIY, daily.
  3. The teacher from the school will give you a random bush start, daily. (I think, I've only gotten bush starts)
  4. You can buy food and drinks at the cafe, with rotating daily stock.
  5. The receptionist and doctor from the hospital with give you a piece of clothing, daily.
  6. The apparel shop has clothing mannequins that you can buy from, daily.
  7. You get rewards for completing more homes.
Going any further is huge spoiler territory, so I'll stop here.

When it comes to Items included in the DLC - I believe you can still get them without the DLC by simply trading with others.
So if someone drops it on the floor it's not like you can't pick it up because you don't have the DLC.

There are several things that gets unlocked after you finish your 30th house and last facility: DJ KK performs on the island (basically beach party Club LOL), and tons of dancing reactions (better than Shrunk's).

After purchasing 20 items from the shop, you unlock the ability to purchase from the HHP catalog. They have exclusive items sold in said catalog.

With the dlc you can order pretty much any new item with poki curreny, without the dlc you have to wait for the new items to cycle in the shops

Okay before this turns into another debate let me just give me honest thoughts. It should be obvious that when this DLC was announced that Nintendo wanted it to make it the last major content for the game. Obviously there is going to be things that you cannot do behind a paywall, but it should be noted that Happy Home Paradise feels like a game by itself and thats not really a bad thing because its linked to New Horizons. If you look back at Happy Home Designer on the 3DS one of the biggest issues was that the game was not really linked well with New Leaf which is why it is not talked about as much.

What Nintendo did was a smart move making Happy Home Paradise linked with New Horizons. Now as for the price you can make your argument about it and I know people in the past were against buying DLC, but I think its justified because of how long people have been waiting for new content. If it didn't had more to offer to it then a lot of people would be upset.

In Conclusion Happy Home Paradise DLC is like an expansion from making your own island to see how well you can take that same creation into homes and the fact that it encourages you to do it more often and you can bring a lot of the new items back to your main island is such a good reward.

Which might take a while if you're unlucky. Nook's Cranny has not had any new items (minus the new DIYs sold in the cabinet) for me yet. All of the new items I've gotten so far either were in Able Sisters or I bought with poki.

Same, though I’ve gotten some cool new items from balloons and Redd’s ship too
