Do/did your parents approve of the music you listen to?

My parents typically approve. I listen to a lot of foreign genres like KPOP, german music, and french music, and they have no problem with it.

My grandparents don't like the music I listen to, but they don't hate it. They like old country music from when they were growing up, and I like modern pop music. My parents like the music I listen to. My mom only listens to the music I listen to.

My mom likes a lot of "my" music though so I'd say she is and was approving of it.

lmao my parents have never cared about my taste in music. they haven't said that i'm not allowed to listen to certain types of music lol i mean i know my dad wouldn't listen to my music himself but he's not trying to make me stop or anything lol? besides they barely know what i listen to, my mom checks out my playlist on spotify sometimes but she likes my taste in music so lolll

I used to listen to some fairly interesting things back in my teens (like metalcore and deathcore...) and even though my mom didn't like it/it gave her a headache, she didn't really care. She didn't get it, but she let me listen to what I wanted to without ever saying anything that would discourage me. Actually, with every band I've been really into, my mom seems to support my phases haha.

I listen to a massive variety of music but when I lived at home I mostly listened to metal/industrial/rock music.
My parents never disapproved of my music taste, they both have quite diverse music tastes as well.

my mum and dad only know like the main pop artists like katy perry & ariana grande and other then that, they don't really know much about current music. i might mention 'oh i'm listening to halsey' and they might be like 'okay great' and have no clue who she is or what she sings about. they do know i listen to k-pop and voca but other then that they don't kinda know. i always listen with earbuds in anyway so they don't hear.

I'm not very open about my music tastes because they can be pretty out of the blue at times. My parents know that I like Taylor Swift quite a lot but that's because they've heard of her... But I also really like David Bowie (see what I mean lmao). My dad doesn't like him (he likes a few songs by him but finds him a bit weird lmao), but my mum likes him too, sometimes we'll listen to his songs in the morning in the car and sing along really loudly.

Other than that my music tastes remain somewhat of a mystery because some of the bands I like are quite obscure. They're not weird, they're just not well-known.

My parents never have approved of anything I have liked since I have turned 13 and they forced me to get rid of my Pokemon plushies because they were for "babies." Given that I listen to a lot of anime music, no, they most likely dont accept that but whatever. Xp
