I mean obviously I'm too old now for them to be choosing what I can't or can listen to. Before they didn't have a problem with the music I listened to though. I used to be into hard rock, but now I'm mainly into video game soundtracks and anime soundtracks.

Dunno, never really showed them any of the music I listen to.

yeah my mom knows i like some old japanese psychedelic rock but yeah since she makes weird faces whenever i tell her anything i don't bother anymore lol

Disapproved. I listen to mainly punk, folk, and indie music. I guess my mom saw me listening to Eminem once and now she thinks everything I listen to is Eminem/Rap now... I don't understand how Modest Mouse sounds like Eminem, but okay mom.

i remember i had nicki minaj's on max volume on my laptop and my mom overheard it and she actually liked it lol

I choose approve, but I don't think that's quite right. I think they just don't quite care.

I wish I could have clicked for both, I clicked for disapproving because my mom really used to disapprove of my emo/screamo/punk music I'd listen to way too loud in my room, and when I'd ask for CD's she'd get me either completely different ones or the censored copies, and it would PISS ME OFF. I mean, how was I supposed to be cool if my Slipknot CD had no cuss words on it? Also she was kind of scared of Slipknot and Korn and stuff XD And she would always say it was a phase and stuff, but now it's funny we will listen to stuff like Marilyn Manson in the car and she'll be singing along because she's more open minded and likes it now.

No. I was an eighties teen, and I can remember my parents saying that Billy Idol was satin. Lol. They were often discusted by the music videos I would watch on MTV.

I like a lot of my kids music, and my daughter likes most of the music I listen to.

Your parent's don't approve of you listening to Nirvana? I would've thought that they were pretty "tame" in comparison to other artists you could be listening to, but who knows.

I guess my mum doesn't know everything I listen to, and I don't think she "likes" the majority of what I listen to, but she's never had a problem with it nor has she ever said I shouldn't be listening to what I listen to or anything.

My parents influenced my music tastes so they approve, we often talk about the stuff we listen to

I guess. I mean, they don't even know what I listen to in the first place.

My parents don't really care either way I think, so approving I guess. Though I don't exactly broadcast my taste in music since I generally listen with headphones.

[Voted disapproving when I mean approving, oops.]

My mom didn't like my music but she didn't mind that I listened to it. She wouldn't let me buy the explicit CDs though.

Yes, but that doesn’t mean my dad enjoys the music I listen to. He says I have terrible taste in music, all in good humor, of course. If anyone is wondering, I listen to new country, old country, folk, and some bluegrass. I also listen to a few rock or grunge bands, very selectively, of course!

most of the songs i listen to are of the same genre that my parents enjoy, so they aren't against it.
