Do villagers adopted from others mention their old town?

Question in the title. I want to buy a villager from someone but it might bother me if they bring up their old town a lot or at all.
I've never adopted before so I wouldn't know. If you've heard your villager bring up the old town they used to live in, please let me know. Thanks

It seems in this game they don't, although in NL they did

If you talk to resident services and "complain" about a resident it resets all their sayings and "memory", I believe.

yes! my lopez does this occasionally. if he's wearing a piece of clothing that his old owner gave him, he'll talk about them. beyond that however, he doesn't talk about the town itself. my other villagers that i've adopted that didn't come with clothing their old owner gave them haven't talked about their old homes at all so far - it might just be when they're wearing that clothing.

I've found that making side characters for extra houses or whatever, if you adopted a villager from another town, they'll mention where they came from when you introduce yourself. Personally I find it quite nice, it's cool that they have a story

I adopted rudy from someone and honestly other than when he moved in (saying like thanks for inviting me from _____) I dont think hes mentioned his old town once.

I kinda wish he talked about his old town more though, always thought it was funny in acnl when theyd show you letters they received back in their old town lol

The letters used to expose me so much on WW when I was younger and thought for some reason the villager would actually understand what I'm saying!? I'd pour my heart out about how much they mean to me or whatever only for them to show it to my older cousin and for her to make fun of me

I adopted Coco, and she has not mentioned her old town yet.

I have also visited a villager that someone adopted from me, and they remember me.

They do, but not much. They'll mention where they're from when they move in, and rarely later on in the game. When I was at Bruce's house and looked at his saxophone he mentioned how someone gave it to him, and honestly I think thats so sweet. It gives them more character.

I've had Twiggy mention it while she was wearing clothes given to her by someone from her old town, and I believe I've had Plucky bring it up once just randomly, but it's not very common I don't think

Only if they kept items you gave them. They don't bring it up beyond their intro. They do remember their last town when the person from there visits them.

My Bluebear cloned herself when she moved. My friend adopted her and 2 weeks later my roommate had her as a rando move in. She even recognized me and mentioned to my roommate that she was from my town.

Yes. They do, but it when they come to your island. They'll mention their old island once, and won't mention it again. Camofrog came from another person's island and it mentioned that the day after he came to the island (the day after he unpacked his goods). Since then, not a single word about his previous island was mentioned.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I appreciate it a lot. So they pretty much mention it once and then never again unless the original owner gave them items. That's totally okay with me

Oh god I'm having flashbacks to letters where you jam all the buzzwords in to raise friendship...

Aw that's really sweet though! I remember I used to do the same in WW, then when I got NL and found out about keywords all my letters turned into "Best friend. Present! Love thanks!" etc.
