Do villagers ever keep clothes you give them on for very long?

I gave Diana a shirt yesterday and she changed back to her default purple blouse today. I have Fang a Captain's Hat and he took it off an hour later.

Do they ever keep clothes on that you give them like in previous games?

Yes. I gave Axel two outfits, and he only wears one, which is the one that looks bad on a villager (and I didn't know that when I gave him it.)
But he does wear the one, and he likes it.

Yeah you can see it in their wardrobe or displayed around their house. Sometimes they wear what you give them, sometimes they don't.

i gave maddie in my town a dress so we could match together- she likes it and wears it almost every other day now. i've given one of my villagers a hat too! he took it off a few hours later, but he keeps it as furniture in his house now.

I’ve only given Twiggy a yellow and white strip shirt and she hasn’t taken it off besides to do other activities like working out lol

I've given Rudy like 3 different outfits and he usually wears 2 of them on and off. He rarely wears his default yellow hoodie anymore.

My villagers wear most of the outfits I've given them, some more than others. Flora especially likes wearing the school smock, which looks adorable on her.

Cherry wore the black collarless shirt for a couple of days, but now has it hanging on the wall.

Gave Octavian a flannel and he LOVES it. only thing he ever wears

I gave someone a shirt and he never changed out of it even once, maybe because it fits his sporty preferred style? I also gave Sprinkle a sweater and she changes out of it/ wears it again a couple times a day.
Hazel only wore the things i gave her once and never again -_-

They will keep it in their closet if they like it and will randomly wear the outfits with favoritism towards their original clothing. They will also wear them based on the activity. If you give them workout clothes they will only wear them when working out. As far as I have seen anyway

I gave outfits to Beau, Judy, O'Hare and Skye and they all did like it. I've seen the first 3 wearing it on occasion.
Also I often see Bertha wearing the 2 outfits Coach gifted her with.

It might have something to do with your friendship level. I have Bonbon a lace dress and at first, she didn’t really wear it but now she basically never takes it off lol Pashmina was given a maid outfit but she doesn’t really wear it, and my friendship level with her isn’t as good as it is with Bonbon.

I gave Lolly a dress over a week ago and she still wears it most of the time!

I gave one of them a sporty tank and days later they are still wearing it.
