I will preface this by saying I do not regret resetting.
My original island had things that bugged me for over a year (such as fruit and airport colour), and now I have an island where nothing bugs me. Its a work in progress still, but I love it.

I'm just dreaming of my original island and I really miss it.
I spent over 1000 hours there.
A year and a half where I spent nearly every day.
I spent that time fine tuning and tweeking every detail to make it the best version of the island it could be.

And even though I own a second switch, I know nintendo will never give it back, even though its in their power to.

Just makes me sad.

How about you?

I haven’t reset in New Horizons, so I can’t say for this particular game. However, I’ve reset on previous titles. I did miss my old towns after resetting those. I always craved a fresh start, so I had a bit of an obsession with resetting. I don’t think I knew what I wanted with my town(s), so it was very easy to just reset. With New Horizons, I had a clearer picture of how I wanted my island to look. I think this is what made me keep my original island. There were parts of my island that I’d be devastated if I lost. I obtained all of my dream villagers that I worked very hard for. I put time into it that I couldn’t just bring myself to erase. Even though I do not play the game anymore, I have never reset on New Horizons. I cared too much about my island and knew what exactly went into it. It would have sucked to lose it all.

In New Horizons, no… I really don't miss it. In New Leaf, yes… I hate my card just suddenly die.

I do miss my original town in new leaf.
But I don't remember it at all.
I only recall playing it for the first time on the train home after buying my 3ds.

It was my first animal crossing game so that memory holds a special place in my heart.

I found the game ran out of stuff to do after 4 months as your town was complete by then.

So every 4 months I would make a new town.

But your first ever animal crossing experience will always be something special.

That release date town creation was pretty nice. Plus there were some event items there that I still haven't gotten back. but honestly, resetting was a good idea. I'm happy with my island.

I’ve had loads of islands and I miss some of them sometimes but they all had themes but my current one doesn’t have a theme which is better really

I do sometimes miss my old island. I had the same layout for both my first 2 islands. My second island existed almost a year and a half. I spent many hours on that one layout so anything else feels kind of weird. I reset it for 2.0 and got a very different map. It has the right airport color, fruit, and flower and all the villagers I want. I don't regret restarting but I do long at times for the first map I had. It had a cool multi-level sideways waterfall from the beginning. But I don't miss all those pears.

I haven’t reset my island, but I did reset my WW town a couple years ago and I regret doing that. I had that town since launch and randomly decided to reset it one day, and now I wish I could go back and see what it was like after so much playtime.

I couldn’t reset 🥺 Bayside isn’t perfect but I have spent so long making it perfect for me. It’s my happy place that I can now go and just relax and do little things (like weeding atm as I haven’t had much time to play 💔😂)

I did reset my NL towns honestly far too many times. It got to the stage that they didn’t feel personal. I guess that I learned from that and didn’t want to repeat my mistakes.

I've reset my island three times now, and I don't really miss the previous two. I miss the progress I made on them? but as far as the islands themselves, no. There was things that bothered me (the maps, fruit, airport, etc) or I just flattened the island and then couldn't bounce back to make enough progress so out of frustration, I just reset. Though with my current island, I've been really struggling as to not reset, but I've come so far once again that I don't think I'll ever do it. I think I'm more so opting to getting a second switch vs. resetting. :')

Ooh I just thought of my first new leaf town. I accidentally had that erased because when you put the game card in another 3DS and play it, it won't acknowledge the save data and you'll save over it. I really miss that town. I'm never getting back all that streetpass data I had.

Yes and no. Yes because it was my first ever animal crossing game that I got at launch. My first ever island/town that I had decorated on my own. I traded a lot for that island, spent a lot of time on that island, a lot of tears (lol dramatic) but it will always be my baby because that time era was such a strange one (the pandemic barely starting and all) so I do have fond memories and miss it sometimes, but I restarted it and will have more fun with this one because I won’t be so focused on getting the perfect island and having it set up in a certain way. I’ll just take my time and play around with things more.

Other than the horrible frame rate issues I'm getting on my current island, I'm not missing my old island any more at all.

I think you just need to get used to the new island, and fill out the areas that are empty with things you like.

honestly, at first, i reset because i thought it would lead me to play the game more. and for a short while, it did. however, as time went on, i found myself bored doing just the same things i did on my old island, and it took me FOREVER to get my island to 3 stars. if any of you saw my oldest posts when i first joined TBT, might i remind you how upset that particular topic made me...

despite of all that though, just recently i finished my fossil collection on my current island and i hadn't had that on my other one. on this one i also have several million bells (some of which i obtained from trading on this website), many nook miles, and a village that feels like family to me. now that i know the game, i have more of a love for it and while i sometimes visit my old island via dream suite, i don't regret it because i love my new island so much more.

I haven't reset at all for NH, but I do miss my town in NL. There are certain things about NL that I really do miss. The villagers, the shops, perfect fruit, some tropical fruits, etc. I don't own NL anymore so it does make me nostalgic for it again.

on occasion yes because i sunk *so much* time into it, plus i had a nice release date on my passport so i felt like a true 'og'. now that a lot of time has passed since i reset, despite not having played as much on this island i definitely don't regret the reset because i feel like i learned a lot about terraforming and decorating etc on my first island that i can now implement a lot better onto my current island. i do miss my nicely padded catalogue and recipe knowledge though!! i feel like a lot of my demotivation around building this island up comes from having to go and find all the furniture all over again
then again i have been considering resetting my current island so i guess i dont feel all that torn up about it haha. i'm just cautious to not make the same mistake i did with nl where i was resetting over and over again to the point where i didn't really feel a connection to any new town
