I find that I’m falling off ACNH faster than the older games. I do love the new improvements they’ve added to the game, however I feel like I had more things to chase as goals in older games. Maybe the multiplayer in NL spoiled me? Anyways what do you think is your best AC game for replay-ability?

I wish there was a vote for something like "never played NL" or just "Other" or whatever.

I was introduced to Animal Crossing about a year and a half ago, so I have to say I am very enthusiastic about NH. But I have read others saying similar things about older versions of the game. I feel like I missed out on earlier stuff. I am a fan of cranky villagers, and from what I have seen and heard, they were MUCH more cranky in the old games. I wish I could have experienced that (plus Resetti).

But, I am happy to be a part of everything now, as I feel like NH has brought me into a new world that I adore, and I have made some online friends here on this forum thanks to NH.

Hopefully the next game will appeal more to the long time fans!

I added the option, thank you for the suggestion 💜 💜

I think NH is the animal crossing game that I’ve spent the most hours on even though I think NL is a better game overall. When the older games came out, in particular NL, I was pretty busy irl and didn’t have as much time to really play the game as much as I would’ve liked whereas when NH came out I had a lot more free time so ended up putting a lot more hours into it.
I have gone back to NL during the last couple of years to get more playtime into that but it’s hard going back to the restrictions on placing items outside.

I'm only playing it more for now, as it's the only currently available way to play with others online.

Once the online servers for New Leaf comes back via Pretendo, then I'll go straight back to that and basically abandon New Horizons unless needed.

I honestly do; I have my issues with New Horizons (villager dialogue, missing npcs, breakable tools, lack of old furniture sets) and it is not my favorite animal crossing I have found myself putting more time into NH in a day than any previous animal crossing because it feels more open? idk lol

I voted more because I do find myself playing it more, I think because i could never decide how i wanna organize my island so its just in a constant loop of being redone. NL i kinda got it to a point im happy with, I had a few things i realized i needed to finish when we had the return to NL event but I still havent played it since then. Im not sure how many hours ive put into NL it might be the same but feels like not as much

Voted "more" simply because of the much-expanded customization abilities. Decorating outdoors is a breeze compared to all the older games. I've spent so much time doing it that I can easily say it's more than half my total playtime for this game alone, and I played every single day for an entire year after its release. I've barely taken advantage of multiplayer features.

If Pretendo is as great as its claimed to be, then maybe I'll swing by New Leaf again. For the time being, however, I'm sticking with NH for decorating purposes.

NH is the AC game I've managed to play the most, and the only one I'm still playing irregularly these days despite doing everything I wanted to do with it! It's hard for me to want to go back to the older AC games these days.

Statistically, New Horizons was played less than New Leaf. I spent more hours on just StarFall alone than I did for ACNH in total prior to the creation of Palm City (which I spent less time on than MoonGlow). But I’m assuming that it’s because ACNH had more conveniences that made stuff easier and less challenging than what ACNL had.

I definitely played New Leaf more for a few reasons.
  1. A 3DS just fits in a purse so much easier than a Nintendo Switch does. Even with the controllers removed, it's just a bulky system. I consider the Switch portable in the loosest sense of the term because of that.
  2. I also really love online play, and it was nice to not have to have a Nintendo Online subscription just to do that. A Nintendo Online subscription isn't expensive for me at all, but it's just not something I always have active.
  3. I also miss Street Pass so much. It was just really cool to be able to see other players' homes, especially since New Leaf came out while I was in college. There were a LOT of people playing New Leaf on my campus apparently.
  4. Which I guess ties into the biggest reason I probably played New Leaf more than New Horizons: I'm old now! I wish I knew how valuable free time was when I still had it. There's no summer break when you're an adult. 😭

Less. I play it occasionally, but New Horizons hits different for me. I don’t immerse myself in it as much as I once did with New Leaf.

I’m not sure how much I played NL. NL I played significantly more than Gamecube Animal Crossing and Wild World. I have put a lot of time in NH but less now; I took a couple breaks from it. It’s hard to say but I may have put more time in NL than NH. I still haven’t decorated my house and still plenty more I can do with decorating my island.

I think they're about the same or NH might have more, but I prefer NL by a long shot. The only reason I feel like I have so many hours in NH is because terraforming and decorating your island takes so long. I've gone through so much trial and error with my terraforming tbh. My island has undergone a lot of changes and doing big chunks of my island has usually taken me several days. When you're not terraforming or decorating though, the game is so empty. I'm always at a loss at what to do and fall out of the game since my decorating sprees come and go. I felt more consistent with New Leaf and there was just so much more to do imo, and it was more enjoyable.

I think New Leaf is the best, having progression every 30 days and making the town tree grew with time played really promotes playing for a long time. Seasonal events never really did it for me, I just want the elite items and feel like I progressed into the endgame.

New Horizons is really missing the starting over option, I could never abandon all of my Nook Miles achievement but my island is done and it's so boring. The first 15-ish days are the most fun in the game, once you unlock everything and finish decorating it's boring to me.

I’m not sure how much I played ww as a kid, but I’ve played new horizons less than new leaf. Although I really enjoy both, I’m not surprised, I just had more time to play stuff when I was younger and new leaf was the game I’d play all the time.

I got tired of NH much faster than the older ones, but I think that's because I dislike the switch more than i dislike the game itself LOL
for example, I played the wii and gamecube in general way more than i play the switch

I think NH is a fine game, but there's SOMETHING about it that just doesn't hold my attention

I def played NH a ton on release, but I think I maybe played NL over a longer period? So in the end I probably played both for around the same time.

I said about the same, though probably a bit more new leaf.
Though I've noticed I will play nonstop and then at some points take a month or so to get back into. That's probably cause I played more pokemon when I was younger and just being busy with other things.
