Whenever you catch a Pokemon do you typically give it a nickname or not?

I don't, I prefer them to have their actual names. The only Pokemon that I have that have nicknames are the in-game traded Pokemon

When I'm doing a nuzlocke I do, however when I play normally I don't ever nickname my pokemon.

I'm really bad with naming stuff, so I'll name them only if I'm able to come up with a satisfying name very quickly. And sometimes even the names I find satisfying are really crap.

I do sometimes. It really depends on what I'm gonna use it for. Like, I named my main team after my favorite music artists. I've got a Sonata Arctica (because apparently Tony Kakko was too profane to be a pokemon name?? It got censored, lol), Marco Hietala, Nightwish, Sirenia, Jade Valerie, etc.

Sometimes I do really bad puns. I named my Chikorita "Leafin' On A Prayer" (obviously shortened really horribly, but it gets the point across).

sometimes i fish for magikarps and nickname them with the names of my irl enemies.

it's a self esteem thing

I'm sure you meant Bidoof and not Magikarp.

At least Magikarp turns into something useful. Bidoof pretty much just evolves into a larger Bidoof.

Nope, I meant Magikarp.

After naming them they get imprisoned in box "X" for all of eternity, forever being trapped a Magikarp.

It's a fantasy of mine

Nope. I've never understood the reason behind nick naming them. Like I get you want them to be more personal but like ?? Idk I just prefer them to stay the names they were given

Yes, and Diamond probably had some of the strangest ones.
Dialga: Tik Tok
Azelf: HelmetHead
Mesprit: WhipMyHair
Uxie: Big Brain
Torterra: Torterrora
Giratina: Death (Probably the most uncreative one here)
Regigigas: Doom Tower
I named almost every one I got, but I only remember these.
I now try to give good names to them, like my shiny Milotic is named Le Beaut? and my Magnezone is named Lodestone. :D

I avoid nicknaming my Pokemon, I always disliked that when you trade Pokemon with NPC's they always have nicknamed Pokemon. I have nicknamed a few of them, but that's a rare occurrence, I generally prefer to keep the regular name.

I nickname occasionally but I NEVER nickname legendaries unless I'm calling something like Yveltal Diddums or lovemuffin.

Calling them random names.
Like Psyduck as Quackster420, Dugtrio as THREEEEE, and Fire Pokemon with Blaze in it >_>

I do. I like them being a lil more personal.

One time when I played Emerald, I gave them all dirty names. Camerupt was the dirtiest...
