This is a pure speculation thread. As we all know, the new DLC will allow us to customize the interiors of villagers living on our islands. We also know that certain features won’t carry over to our islands, like being able to expand room size.
What I’m wondering is, do you think we’ll also be able to customize the exteriors of their houses as well? I personally would love this feature, as it would make it so much easier to plan out neighborhoods with cohesive house styles. But also I’m not getting my hopes up that this will be the case.
what about you guys? Do you think this is a feature we’ll see, or do you think the customization ends at villager interiors?
I hope so. I'm not sure but my prediction is that they might let us change the sliding, roof, and door etc. but we will be restricted to the same shape they all have now. I hope that that is what happens, because I really hate some villager's exteriors, haha.
I don’t think so, but I would love it if they did. I know for sure of 9 villagers that I love, but I still have yet to decide who I want for my last one. I’ve tried a couple of villagers, but their exterior sort of clash around my town, so I’ve been forced to let them go. If I could change their house exteriors, that changes the whole game plan, and I’ll have to reevaluate each and every villager again.
It’s definitely possible technology-wise, as the hacking program already allows you to choose house, door, and roof colors/shapes.
I guess it depends on whether Nintendo wants to preserve any of the Animal’s predetermined style. With everything we know about customization freedom in NH, I think it’s likelier than not that they’ll allow an exterior change.
I would like if they gave us a few outdoor options for each villager but I doubt it. It'll probably just be the interior decor we can change. I would love to be able to change Genji's roof from purple to black just so he blends with Toby's yellow & green house better since they're neighbours on my island.
Really hope so! It would help so much to create a coherent theme throughout the island. I'm worrying now because they didn't actually show that part in the direct.
I would assume so, but you might be limited to what you can customize about the exterior. You couldn’t just do a complete overhaul, is what I’m saying.
GOD I hope so. I've passed on villagers before because, although I love the villager, the house would stick out horribly on my island (your a handsome boy, Chief... but that house...). I think there's a very good chance we will, since it would be odd to let us change the inside but not the outside (when you can do both with vacation homes), but who knows with Nintendo. I do think it's more likely we will than we won't, though.
They really didn't show anything about changing the Villager's homes on our islands, so most of it is lost in the unknown. One thing I haven't seen anyone ponder about it... crafting stations. If we can edit their entire homes... how will the stations spawn? Where will they spawn? I'm almost starting to wonder how limited we will be with editing their homes.
The only thing really disconfirmed is the ability to increase the floor plan which is disappointing cause counters, pillars, or dividing walls will take up so much space in their tiny rooms.
I hope so too! It would not only make it easier to choose more villagers, but their houses won’t stick out and will be able to match our island’s aesthetic better.
With all the options of the designing in the new update it would be nice to be able to update the outside of the islander homes to match our island themes.
