I usually have more male friends and that's usually because I get closer to guy friends and end up meeting their friends. If I have female friends I usually don't meet their (female) friends and I don't go out and meet a lot of people in general so friends of friends are all I get.

I've always got along better with males, not sure why. It's maybe because my personality is pretty tomboyish, so I have more in common with males than females. I do have a few female friends, but I wouldn't consider them close, I tend to be very cautious of other girls due to some bad school experiences (though I realise not every girl is like that, it's merely a defense mechanism I've developed over the years).

Female friends even though I don't hang out with many people in general.

When I was younger my friends used to be mostly guys though but nowadays I don't have that many male friends. Maybe the thought of people instantly assuming there's something romantic going on has hindered my willingness to befriend guys.
