Ok, I know what you mean now. My original island that I played a couple of weeks didn't have any extra peninsulas off the back of the island, and was one of the main reasons I restarted. I don't have that exact shaped peninsula that you posted on my current island, but I have two shaped like this - (This one is behind my house, the other one is behind my museum).

I don’t have any really big rock peninsulas in my current island but I know that my brother has one! It looks so cool with the little pond on it. I DID just realize a day ago I had a tiny rock outcropping I could put stuff on so I put my bug jail there.

If you were to restart, it shouldn't be too hard to get a map with a few larger peninsulas off the back of the island. It only took me a few hours of restarting and that was because I was also looking for peaches or apples and I wanted my Resident Services in a specific area (center map). Check out the pinned map thread to see all the possibilities.

As you can see.. I have no "extra" peninsulas.. I feel unlucky.. I've been trying to muster up the courage to reset for weeks... this has gonna push me off the edge of the plank... just wondering if I should after the update or not because I was planning to start in april to get the cherry blossoms diys.. worried it may take me weeks to even find a map.. last time it took me several hours

I have 4 rock peninsulas! 2 in the back corners, 1 in the middle right, and 1 in the middle left split into 2 smaller rocks close together

Sadly no, you have to get back via the beach, but you can jump from them

Also wanted to add that you can’t put a pond on the rocks. There are ‘tidal pools’ that are naturally part of some of the ledges that differ in size. I think that’s what the person was referring to.

I have four!!! two of them are pretty small. I am excited to put stuff on them!!! I haven't done it yet and I'm not sure what all I plan to do. I know I'm going to put a lighthouse on top of one, and then maybe another will have decor as it is right next to where I plan to put my cute mini little tiki bar & surf shop area. I think I'll put some star gazing stuff on another one! I love to go make my meteor wishes off of the peninsulas because it's easiest to see from there (though the secret beach for that purpose is beginning to grow on me ever since I decorated it).
I have two, yes. I‘ve never seen a map with more than two of those due to it’s size.

It looks like it’s possible to have four larger peninsulas. Two like mine and two like the you tube town! Found it in the map thread. Hopefully the OP doesn’t mind me sharing it. I’m guessing that combination might be pretty rare.

After reading this, I went to check on my own map. I'm very surprised to know I actually have one extra rock peninsula on the northern coast! I thought all rocks there are inaccessible. Now I can swim out to the sea from there, haha

I like the ones that are close together Ive been looking at the map thread.. none are exactly how I would like but a lot come close.. so I'll have to change my plans... and someone said u can jump from one to the other.. I'm excited to reset but I may wait till after the update a little while while I gain some new ideas I'm gonna practice terraforming.. it's just annoying thinking about how I'll have to do all this stuff again but at the same time makes the game longer!

Not sure if you can actually put a pond on the penisula unless I'm mistaken?! The user may be referring to naturally-generated gaps that form (don't know if they actually form on the back peninsulas or just the back corner ones) between the rocks that look like a little pond - pretty cool though! I have a 'pond' on my back right corner peninsula. Plus two of the peninsulas the same more vertical shape to the one you posted, I think! But I'll admit I've never really noticed them till now, had to look after reading this thread!!

I have that rock peninsula right next to the large land peninsula. I currently have it set up as a musical performance stage. Villagers sometimes sing on it or play instruments. Here's a shot of me, Megan and Phoebe waiting to the show to begin.
