I keep a daily journal! I'm one of the people who can't really commit to one, so I write in bullet form so it's easy and not as daunting. It's bullets of things that happen on each day because I'm very forgetful. I also have a to-do list that starts on Sunday, and I add into it throughout the week. And then at the end of the week, I write a list of happy things for that week. The format is one page for the to-do list, 7 pages for each day of the week, and usually one page for the happy summary/list.
I heard of one old man who does similar to what I do, and he holds the world record for writing around a thousand pages by hand! I think it would be nice to re-read them and remember the small specific things that happen each day, like the weather or what I had for dinner. Even if each day seems monotonous, you can look back at all the tiny things that make each day different. If any of you want to do the same style of daily journaling, I'd love to hear about it!
in high school I did a better job at keeping a journal. I filled it up with a lot of silly angst. but throughout college, it's been difficult for me to find any motivation to keep one. if anything, I have a private livejournal account where I rave and rant about things I'm currently obsessing over. keeping handwritten journals is hard.
I used to have a lot of notebooks where I would write and doodle. I have no idea where any of those are now tbh. (I think my step-mom stole them when I lived with her.)
I also had a notebook with my friends and whenever we'd get the chance we'd write a note to each other and pass it around between classes. That was fun, but we finally filled it up. I think one of them still has it but idk who.
Well actually I usually end up typing it in my Notes on my iPod Touch first because it's faster so I can get more down before I forget the dream, but then afterwards I transfer it to my dream journal.
Kinda? If something big happens, or if I just feel like writing about my day, I write it on tumblr, stick it under a read more and tag it as journal.
I know other people can read it, but i'm never very specific or anything. Like only I or one of my close friends would usually know what I'm talking about, which is fine. I've never been good at keeping a written journal when I've tried only because I hate physically writing. It's too slow.
i had one a few years ago but now i just have a scrapbook where i put stuff in, not really a journal coz i dont write in it but kinda bits the bill i guess?
i havent updated it in almost a year tho coz ive been lazy but ive got everything sitting in the box i just need to stick it in lol
I used to keep journals as a kid but my mom would always go through them and not even be subtle about it. She would always bring up what I wrote about like, "Oh so I read you hung out with Brianne at school today, I thought you were angry with her."
I stopped writing in a journal after that but I did have an angsty pre-teen/early teen xanga back in the day.
No, I try but then I write like one entry and forget about it. c;
I did keep a journal when I was backpacking for six weeks, because my host got me one to keep track of everywhere I went. I thought it was really sweet so I did write it in every night (some nights I'd be out partying or forget though so I'd have to try to remember what I did and catch up - and some of them I wrote drunk and are barely legible, aha). And I kept tickets and things like that from places I went and stuck them in there.
When I travel in the future I'll probably try to do the same thing, it's kind of cool because I can look at it and see what I did each day and whatnot. c:
I do wanna get back into writing my thoughts down. I'm not sure why I don't really. I just don't think about it. Blogging and writing in a journal are two different things to me. With a blog you have to filter things but with a journal, you can let it all go. I just kinda sit there and think my thoughts in my head. They're safe in there. Nobody can find them or read them.
Not really, I used to carry a pocket-sized notebook to jot down writing ideas. I have a notebook if I ever decide to stop being lazy and actually make something out of those ideas, but I haven't really spent much time doing so.
Notebooks are my one weakness OMG. I have so many, majority are unused because I can't help myself and I hoard the crap out of them.
Personally I love using the cheap composition notebooks for any personal journal entires or things like grocery lists, recipes, contact information for Friends, acquaintances, important things and notes to not forget. For doodling, I have a buch of compact drawing notebooks, sketchbooks, and little things like that. I spend waaaay more money on notebooks and drawing pads than I really should to be honest.
