To be honest I probably didn't need to give so many options but I did anyway because I'm indecisive about what I should put down as options.
This is more in real life rather than online, but you can take the poll with either in mind.
I love giving presents to people. I like going out and shopping for friends and family, and I love the feeling of making someone happy. It does cause me to be a bit stressed because what if they don't like it? But I prepare enough for it in advance so it's okay in the end. I also really like secret santa—moreso giving rather than getting, but I always really appreciate the effort, thought, and stuff given to me.
What do you think about Christmas gifts? Do you enjoy gifting stuff?
I mostly buy gifts for my sister’s family when I go visit them during the holidays. I like to give them something as I think it’s good manners especially when they got me a few gifts. I like to get everyone something that relates to their own interests.
Yeah, I've hit a point in which I enjoy giving rather than receiving. (I don't enjoy the lengthy 'shopping and buying' part though). I only have limited energy for crowded stores.
I mostly give to family members now. It also depends on the person and family member. Some family members get more than others. Some don't get anything at all. Its nice being an adult so you can make such decisions.
Honestly no, the poor kid in me cries and adult me doesn't make a lot of money either. But I'm really good at it, I listen to what people want and I have an easy time remembering things. That kind of effort is just never returned to me, so I always feel like my friendship is wasted.
i absolutely love giving gifts, especially to those i'm close with as i can usually find something really cool and creative to get them. it's one of very few things i seem to be like, genuinely good at.
that being said, i'm also dirt poor and make minimum wage so the stress of not being able to afford gifts for most of my loved ones is a huge weight on my shoulders around this time of year.
Yes, I love giving gifts, I think it's a nice way to show that you care about someone. I don't ever feel obligated to give gifts though ( and I don't expect them of course) and not everyone I love gets a gift from me every Christmas time, but if I see something I want to get for someone I'll usually do it.
I love giving xmas gifts if I have the money to do so (which is not often). I think I much prefer giving xmas gifts rather than receiving.. I especially love wrapping presents even though I'm not super great at it
I've only been giving gifts for family members for a number of years now (well, plus BFs), and overall I enjoy the process.
There are some people though that are more difficult to shop for though so that's less enjoyable if I feel I need to get them something.
I'm actually so happy I got a job in time before Christmas. So I can go Christmas shopping and buy presents for all of my loved ones ;w;!
@nyx~ and I, for the last two Christmases, exchange gifts via mail since we live too far from each other xD
I love picking stuff out she'll like, inspired from the list of fictional characters we give to one another for ideas.
I also love spoiling my bf LOL I try to go all out for everyone every year, but this year won't be so big.. since I don't start working until the 3rd and it'll be awhile until I get decent hours in :'3
I love giving Christmas gifts! My favorite part is when you exchange them, and the person you got something for’s face lights up in excitement. That smile is the reason I still do it.
It’s weird because I get all “oh no, you shouldn’t have!” when someone gifts me something, but I’m the person insisting on getting something (even if it’s small) for friends and family lol.
I enjoy giving gifts to family and friends. I love giving them to people, but I don't like the obligation some people feel or put on others to get presents. Presents should be got and given out of kindness, not because you don't want people to be talking about how stingy you are. People who get judgy about someone not giving a gift are usually quite unempathetic. Not everyone can afford to buy or make gifts.
I don’t like giving presents. It’s a bit complicated, and I explained in another thread, but I’d just rather not give or receive presents during Christmas. I have no issues giving a gift to someone for a random occasion, though. Those are more meaningful than anything you get on Christmas.
I bought my brother-in-law a few fun pairs of socks. My favorite pair I got him has a gnome and some mushrooms printed on the socks and says “You Don’t Gnome.” The past couple of years when I stayed with my sister and her family, I bought Funkos for my brother-in-law but this year I wanted to do something different.
I ADORE IT. i LOVE buying gifts for people and i especially love it for christmas. i get big ol lists with tons of ideas. i love the entire vibes around going christmas shopping too- i don't care too much about deals bc something thats PERFECT will be worth it no matter the cost, but i have a big fondness of going out with some coffee or hot cocoa and getting wrapping supplies and gifts, then spending the night wrapping everything up while listening to music/movies/videos etc. it's so cozy. and then seeing how they react is my absolute favorite. aaaa i love christmas I LOVE CHRISTMAS
Heck yeah I do! I love getting my friends or loved ones something really thoughtful or useful for their every day lives. It's such a satisfying feeling.
I chose "depending on the individual person I'm buying for." If I have an existing idea of what to get someone, then I'll be super excited to buy it and gift it to them. I absolutely love going out and buying something that someone mentioned they want and surprising them with it on a random Tuesday. But when I'm obliged to buy something for someone's birthday/Christmas and I don't have any ideas of what to get them, then I find it really stressful. I'm not very good at thinking of what to get someone if they haven't already mentioned wanting something in the past.
Edit: I just realized the poll is about Christmas gifts specifically and not gifts in general. My answer is still the same: I like giving people gifts if I already know what they want, but not if I have to come up with something.
