For the passed few days, I have really been thinking about this debate. You don't necessarily have to have a job/career to know which side of this debate you stand one, you just have know your lifetime priorities, your purpose(s) in life, and what's important to you.
I will tell you what both sides of the debate mean to me:
Live to Work
People who live to work tend to view having a job the most important thing in life. They tend to believe that working, and in the process, help the community is their main purpose in life. Some are so dedicated to work, their job and other labor activities, that they could care less whether or not they bring a paycheck home. Their main purpose in life is anything having to do with work, labor, and helping the community by doing such.
Work to Live
People who work to live view their job/career, not as there main/sole purpose in life, but as their way to help their mental health and to be a financially successful individual. They have a job for psychological, social, and financial purposes, but they want to experience a lot more in life than just their job/career.
While I believe that it is important to value your career and to help the community, I also believe that there is more to life than just WORK. Such as family and friends and doing as much as you can with them.
In order to take care of others, you have to take care of yourself. With that being said, I work to live!
