i only really refer to my parents siblings and their partners, or really just anyone in my family line who’s a sibling to my grandparents or their partners etc, as aunt and uncle. my parents had each of their kids christened so the people i’m directly closed to growing up who weren’t family are my godparents, so if i am referring to the one that i am really close to i just call her my fairy godmother.
Only my blood relatives. I think it’s nice when other people refer to non-blood relatives as auntie or uncle though, I think it’s nice and a sign of respect
Sometimes..? I guess it just really depends! My mom had a really good friend when I was younger, we always called her Aunt Cathy ^^ I miss her a lot. They're not friends anymore which stinks. I miss playing Sonic and Ratchet and Clank at her house when I was little T^T
Just my parents' siblings and their spouses or my parents' uncles and aunts are called uncle and aunt. In my language/culture using uncle or aunt for anybody else may sound like an insult unless they are good friends and are calling themselves aunt and uncle.
My mom's an only child, so I only refer to my dad's brothers and sister as uncles and aunt. I don't personally refer to any non-blood relatives as uncle or aunt, but it's definitely not uncommon for me to hear other people call a non-blood relative aunt or uncle.
I do, but only for certain people. I only do so for very close friends of my parents who are so dear to them that they're considered family. I don't mind either, because they truly are like uncles and aunts to me. Wonderful people really.
