Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
I don't think it's worth it to get any console just to play one game. But yeah, like JKDOS said, the Switch has tons of games, I don't think you'll have a problem finding something else you also like. I'd look into other games and see if there isn't something else that interests you. Stardew Valley is a relatively cheap game that you could look into getting, for instance, especially if you're already a fan of Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons or other games inspired by it.
There's honestly probably already a thread somewhere on TBT with game recommendations for the Switch for people who mostly play Animal Crossing, if you check Nintendo Treehouse or something.
You always need 'that one game' to push you over the edge to get a console, then you slowly build up the library of other games you've missed.
If you know you love Animal Crossing, then you know it's a game you'll play daily for months/years to come - divide the cost of a Switch by 365 days and you'll know your answer
Then a month or two from now you can pick up other greats - I heartily recommend Super Mario Odyssey! - plus tons of indie games, many of which share a similar "comfy and chill" vibe to Animal Crossing.
realistically speaking that depends on how much disposable income you make and how much time you have to play animal crossing. do you plan on playing it often for years to come? do you love the series and want to experience it for yourself? how long can you wait without playing new horizons? how cheaply can you buy the game and console?
remember there's the switch lite which doesn't connect to the TV but it's smaller and more portable and costs $100 less. local multiplayer will probably be a pain though. joycons also aren't removable and apparently still have drift issues which means you'd have to ship the whole console in to nintendo if you want repairs.
I think it could be worth it depending on how much time you think you'll spend playing New Horizons. If I can afford a Switch, I'll be getting it solely for New Horizons.
I got my 3DS exclusively to play Pokemon X/Y and played that for about a year. Then, I found out about New Leaf as I was wrapping up Pokemon and picked it up. I've been playing New Leaf only for over 2 years and I'm not done with it yet.
I don't think it's about the quantity of games, but rather how much time you'll spend on the console that makes it worth it. Just my personal opinion.
It would be worth it to me, as I'll be getting my own console because I want to play on my own island and the Switch we have at home is my husband's, not mine.. The only thing I don't know is whether it's worth getting a full Switch, or whether I should just get a handheld Switch Lite because I pretty much am only buying this console to play New Horizons at this point. I would also transfer my save data for Pok?mon though, but still I'm not sure whether that warrants enough usage to get an extra full Switch in our household. I still have some time to think about it, so hopefully I'll be able to make a decision by the time the game releases..
its truly down to how much you play it. i was lucky tp get a second hand switch from all my friends for my 19th and i have since bought a lot of download only games for it. i've done over 60 hours alone on games like mario kart, stardew valley and splatoon. So i recon if you spend a lot of time playing NH it will be worth it. i know i will be spending lots of time playing NH and Sos:FOMT when they both come out,and plenty of other games when they come out (also soon i will be borrowing pokemon sword from my boyfriend so i can play that as well).
I bought a Switch when Animal Crossing was announced with zero prior interest in owning one. In the time since, it’s become one of my favourite consoles. I’d definitely say it’s worth it; you’ll find so many good games outside of Animal Crossing to play!
Honestly none of the other games interest me. None of the other games were interesting for me on the 3DS either.
Although I did buy harvest moon games for the 3Ds, I didn?t play them much.
I?m planning on buying the switch only for animal crossing.
remember there's the switch lite which doesn't connect to the TV but it's smaller and more portable and costs $100. local multiplayer will probably be a pain though.
i think it's worth it; acnh is one of the main reasons i got my switch and was expecting to only use it for that. then pokemon swsh really interested me and now i've suddenly got 7 more games than i originally planned. if you can comfortably buy a switch and acnh then i think it would be a wise purchase, but if you're hurting for money then saving for it and looking at reviews will probably be better, but i can understand that its different to actually experience something than to read other people's experiences.
I got my Switch fully expecting to only play Animal Crossing on it. I ended up being gifted other games (Legend of Zelda, Luigi’s Mansion, Stardew Valley) and I’ve found that I’m having a lot of fun playing other games too, even though that wasn’t my original intention.
I am certain NH will become the main game I play on my switch, possibly the only game. In my opinion it’s still well worth it, but I have a stable income and don’t have to pay rent (thanks parents!) so buying a switch and a $60 game isn’t too much of a difficulty.
I think it really depends on your personal situation. If you need to spend the money on something more practical and you know you shouldn’t (or can’t) buy a Switch, then don’t do it.
If you know you’re going to play New Horizons for at least a year and really get the most out of it, then it might be worth it. If you can afford it and you know you won’t regret spending the money, then I say go for it. If you get bored of the game and the switch you can always resell them to get some of the money back.
yes, i?ve never preordered anything in my life and i ordered the new switch just to play NH.
my partner says he?s gonna ?borrow? it cause he wants to play a few games on there.
never really planned on sharing custody but at least it?ll get some mileage and hours on there.
The Switch is definitely worth getting into and finding a bunch of new games, but you have to decide for yourself whether you want to buy a console for a single game alone. I always did that for Animal Crossing (in a sense), but I've also always expanded my game library.
