Do you think Nintendo could pull a SSBU 'Everyone is here' with series 5?

It's been over 72 hours since October started, where's the Direct, huh?? kidding, kidding! šŸ˜…

I'm seriously excited for series 5, more than Brewster really. It got me thinking, who's gonna be there, and it hit me that it's possible that all of the former missing villagers can maybe return. I think they may do series 5 like they did with the SSBU roster.

There's a good case for it, I think: except for the promo AF cards(Stitches, Rosie, Goldie), all villagers only appear once with the series they're in, so we're most def. not gonna see villagers that already have 1-4 cards, and I don't think anyone in the Welcome Amiibo set will be there because past amiibo data mines showed that Nintendo made room for 100 new cards, and the WA villager data already exist in the game. If nintendo wanted to, they could just re-release the WA series, like they did 1-4 and Sanrio, so printing new data cards of them doesn't make any sense.

My dream set would include all the missing villagers since gamecube, plus all the other promo villagers like Zelda, MH, Splatoon. Maybe even Holden and Filly can get official cards.šŸ™šŸ½ And I know Bow and Meow have a snowballs chance in heck to come back, but I'd love to see them get cards too, especially Meow, she's so cute!

Anyways, does anyone else think we might get a 'Everyone is here' roster with NH? Also, bonus question, what your dream set 5 look like? Just curious.

Iā€™m trying to embrace the possibility of disappointment so itā€™s not a letdown. But honestly? Iā€™d love any new villagers. My absolute impossible dream would be new villagers plus the OPTION (not forced) for the player to add two more villager housing plots. I swear I see tumbleweeds rolling across my island, itā€™s so empty, but sure, we ā€œdonā€™t have roomā€ for more residents. Iā€™d especially like to see Woolio the sheep, Lulu the anteater, and Faith the Koala, but Iā€™d enjoy any new ones, whether returning villagers or all-new like the current 8.

meh. i think it's possible, but i've stopped trying to get my hopes up when it comes to this game. brewster was a nice surprise, but it still took over a year and multiple directs of being let down. as a result, i'm trying not to get any ideas or expectations for the card series or this month's direct. with the cards specifically, i don't think i'll be bothered by the end result anyway. i'm not much of an amiibo card collector to begin with -- i have a couple for some of my dreamies, and my sister and i have a small collection from when the first few series initially released -- but i'm not going to jump to buy a fifth series, especially after the chaos of the sanrio release. adding new and/or returning villagers doesn't mean much to me either unless they add +2 villager slots to the game, because i already have 10 dreamies (not to mention several that already haven't made the cut) planned and won't be likely to switch any of them out. so, in the end, the contents of S5 make little difference to me.

i'm personally more interested in the direct although, again, trying not to have (m)any expectations. my only hope is for more than brewster since it seems silly to have an entire direct dedicated to just the cafe, but even that feels like setting the bar too high despite arguably being the bare minimum.

I'm hoping for a cute new species or two and would like to see Felyne return, but it's not a super high priority. New villagers are fun, but there's already so many villagers to choose from that I don't have space on my island for all my current favorites. More plots would be great. I feel the game lacks furniture more than villagers, so another set like Welcome Amiibo or Sanrio with characters and matching furniture would be more interesting to me, but I don't think that's the plan.

If they do add new villagers, I hope there's a good selection of uchis and crankies.

Oh my god yes Nintendo please please please add two more plots! That would be my absolute dream! I do think that they will definitely have some of the past villagers on the roster, but as they only added 8 new villagers to NH I have a feeling we might get another eight. And donā€™t forget the first 17 cards have always been reserved for NPCā€™s But that still gives us 83 chances at past and new villagers. I really donā€™t think theyā€™re going to add the crossover Zelda/Splatoon guys to this roster As I think if they do eventually introduce those as cards rather than physical, itā€™ll be in a separate said like the Sanrio.

Not that I have any desire to give up my current roster, but if they add the ability to add a few more villager spots, I would enjoy new villagers. I would personally prefer brand new villagers, particularly a whole new species, as this would allow ACNH to break a bit from its past.

Iā€™ve heard some say that because there are eight player spots, there is little chance that Nintendo would add more villager spots. My question is: do people really use all eight spots? I donā€™t recall ever seeing an island with more than 4 player spots being used, and if eight people are truly using the same switch, then maybe that is an indicator to buy another one? šŸ˜ I would gladly give up some of those player lots for a few more villager ones, and I assume most other players would too.

I think it only makes sense that new villagers will be added (how would they manage a whole new series with ONLY new villagers, considering how many cards each series contains) and I think there is definitely a possibility that a lot of older villagers return (it would be less work than designing new ones from scratch, so I'm assuming it's the option they'd end up using- not that I wouldn't LOVE entirely new villagers!) Depending on the exact number of villagers who've been cut from the series, they could bring back all.

I mean, I can think of two main reasons for not bringing villagers back (if that is what they're gonna do, I am preparing myself in case it's not and series 5 will just be very small and kind of sad):

1. Space. Like I said, IDK how many have been cut, but it seems to me the main reason for not bringing some back would be if they felt they already had enough villager/cards in the series, and opted to not bring back some villagers. In that case, I figure they'd pick villagers who they consider to have less appealing designs and/or who may be too similar to a current villagers in design/personality/species/etc. (now that I think about it- if they DO bring back villagers, I wonder how many/if any will be getting new personalities?)

2. If a design hasn't aged well. But I think the one design (that I know of) that may be viewed as inappropriate in some cultures (Jane) was fixed before the American/international release, so I doubt this would be an issue.

Though, no matter what, I HIGHLY doubt the crossover villagers (Zelda and such) will reappear in the new series 5 sets, if/when they're brought back, I think it'll be in connection with actual Amiibo figures or a special pack of cards like Sanrio. They've never snuck crossover villagers into packs before, they've always been unique, and they've always encouraged players to buy non-AC related merchandise. Plus, they may think players might be less than thrilled to randomly get a crossover card for a game they've never played (NGL, I don't like the video game crossover characters since I like to keep my games separate, and would be annoyed if I got one in a pack). I DO think there's a good chance they'll come back, and maybe even more will be released, but I would be stunned if they were coming back in series 5.

Anyway... yah. IDK if they'll bring everyone back, but I think there's a solid chance they'll bring some/a lot back. But then again... Nintendo has made some choices with this game that have surprised a lot of people, so who knows? All I know is I'm super excited for the eventual Nintendo Direct, because I imagine they'll be at least one or two things I'll be able to get excited about!

I don't think it'll happen. I doubt the Pocket Camp NPCs would even have their amiibo cards. Or even Cornimer.

Nah I don't think so. I mean it would be cool if they brought back all the older NPCs from all the AC games past, but I would much rather see new NPCs and new villagers because it will help keep the game refreshing.

Whatā€™s SSBU? šŸ˜‚

Anyway yeah what the above poster Serabee said, I donā€™t really play any other large nintendo franchises so Iā€™m not really interested in Legend of Zelda or Splatoon (honestly Iā€™m sure itā€™s a really good game but itā€™s kinda getting on my nerves with alll the updates and three freaking games itā€™s got when weā€™re not getting anything lol)

I do hope they come back in another way for other people soon though! I loved the Sanrio update and I want others to enjoy their fav crossover characters as much as I did!

Personally I really want to see old Gamecube friends backk. Tarou looks so cuuute, and I wanna see my pal Nosegay again. I talked to her the other day again on my Wii :D

Whatā€™s SSBU?
It stands for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a game that included all characters from past games that had sometimes been left out of some installments. They announced this by declaring, "Everyone is here!"

And I wouldn't be surprised if "series 5" of the amiibo cards is nothing but the eight new villagers and the handful of new special characters introduced in New Horizons. Unless Nintendo confirmed somewhere that it will be another full set of a hundred and I just didn't hear about it?

My personal wish for series 5 is for all of the WA RV villagers to be included, and also still compatible with New Leaf. And for the Zelda and other Nintendo crossover villagers to be added, and for them still able to be summoning with the amiibo figures, since I still have those, and I just want Wolf Link in New Horizons. ^o^;>

Awww yeah I do hope they reactivate the amiibo figures for the game :D that would be lovely
and thanks for the explanation!

ehh...I was more so talking about villagers than NPCs There are some NPCs that I never see coming back, like Farley from gc or Serena from CF. Like, what would they do? Where would they fit in? I also don't think Pocket Camp NPCs will be there at all, since Pocket Camp is its own thing. Actually I think that if Nintendo was to include more pocket camp stuff, they'd just add items not NPCs.

I think it will follow the same format as 1-4 with100 cards because it's called series 5. I know that sounds silly but hear me out: The WA series only has 50 cards. The Sanrio set, which follows the same format as WA is its own series, with 6 cards. Nintendo didn't squeeze WA and Sanrio into 'series 5'; they were their own series, and follow their own formats. If Series 5 didn't follow the same format as 1-4, it wouldn't be called series 5. Like Sanrio and WA sets, it would be called something different.

That is a very good question about the old NPCs of what role would they play in if they were to come back to New Horizons. As far as we know that Brewster could have his own amiibo card seeing that the Roost is officially returning to the game, but right now we don't know what role he will play in. It does make you wonder if they will actually bring back some of the more popular NPCs that most people really love, like Kappa or Gracie Grace.

This is all speculation and Nintendo can do whatever they want with Series 5. It would be strange if they made amiibo cards for like Isabelle and Tom Nook in their new outfits because as we know that they already have their cards and it already works in the game, so it would not make any sense if they were to do that. I can see them doing new amiibo cards with the new NPCs like Daisy Mae, CJ, and Flick, but again that is just speculation.

Imo, I think all the NPC cards may be spoken for, if its anything like 1-4, anyway. If there are only 16-17 NPC cards, that pretty much covers most of the new npc on the island, including Brewster if he gets a second card. I think Isabelle and Tom Nook will get cards...especially Isabelle. Like, she literally has a card in every 1-4 series, three amiibo figures, and her own special character parfait card. Yeah, as much as I don't like her in NH, she's prob. gonna have a card.šŸ˜…

iā€™m not sure what the chances of them doing this are, but this would be absolutely incredible! one of my biggest dreams is that nintendo will bring back all former villagers one day (or at least, as many as possible), so iā€™d definitely love if this happened. i donā€™t want to get my hopes up, but iā€™ll be keeping my fingers crossed!šŸ¤žšŸ»

It really could be tbh. They have the potential... but would they put the effort in? Guess we'll see! If they did, they'd make a lot of fans happy and in turn, money.~

I think they'll either bring back some of the missing villagers, or they'll only add new villagers. Both would be cool!

But if I have to be pessimistic, I think it might just be the new villagers we already got (Sherb, Raymond, etc.) + random villagers already in the game as part of series 5. It would be a D move and would probably get a lot of backlash from the community but I could see it happening

I really hope that they bring back old characters! Though I'm biased because GCN is my favorite game in tbe series...but at this point if my sweet boy Aziz doesn't come back I'm going to take a trip to Nintendo headquarters and give them a piece of my mind...I wish. I'm personally not as interested in new characters because there's so many left behind from GCN, but I suppose it wouldn't be a bad thing...considering that NH seems to be geared towards new players and not Animal Crossing veterans...especially not people who obsess over GCN šŸ˜…

It depends on if they add the WA villagers to series 5. Even if they donā€™t, Iā€™ve heard some of the GC villagers (Bow, Meow) were spin-off villagers when introduced and that some of the other older villagers have more controversial designs. Itā€™s just all speculation at this point until they reveal everything officially.
