Do you think this could be the best mainline game yet?

I think so. There's a lot of potential for new things while at the same time still keeping the original charm that we love.

I am definitely feeling very good about that assumption. As long as it has all the amazing features of New Leaf, plus all the improved features of all the spin off titles like HHD and a ton of new ideas ^_^ I don't know how they can go wrong except by doing it on purpose.

I believe so! I'm really excited and ready for the new game. Also, I have a new friend who lives close by me who is going to be playing it as well, so lots of playing and interacting with her in our new games. :D

Wait until we see a trailer before you go saying things like that. We know absolutely nothing about the game at the moment other than that it's coming, is an Animal Crossing game, and will likely play like an Animal Crossing game.

I certainly hope it's the best one! And being on the most powerful Nintendo console to date gives it an edge. But I don't think anyone should be giving an opinion on a game we haven't seen anything other than a model of Tom Nook saying the game is coming.

I want to be really really excited and hyped up for it, but I also am kind of scared that New Leaf will be forgotten about. But I'm still excited!

i definitely think so, especially since NL was so good. they'll most likely be improving upon things from NL and implementing some gameplay mechanics from HHD and PC, but while keeping the same mainline theme it's always had. they probably won't do anything drastically different

I haven't played all previous titles, but I'd lean more toward it being the best than being the worst! Like others have said, it has a lot going in its favor (drawing features from past games, improved console etc.)

In order to be considerably worse than NL, I think it would have to either noticeably cut previous content (villagers, items etc.), pull features that are considered fundamental by many players (like removing control over the town), or fail to add enough new content. All three seem fairly unlikely to me. Not counting the people who have very specific requirements, I can't see it falling far below expectations. The main fear I'll carry into E3 is the potential reveal of microtransactions (or worse, loot boxes x_x)

I don't think anyone should be giving an opinion on a game we haven't seen anything other than a model of Tom Nook saying the game is coming.

Of course it's too early to speak with real confidence, but I don't see anything wrong with having an opinion on it either way. There's nothing wrong with hoping or speculating after all, even if it's purely based on personal feelings. Especially because of how little we know, speculation is all we really have to keep us busy and talking for now :p

Sorry! I guess I'm just hyping myself up.

Honestly it better be. It's been a long time coming and it's on a superior console. My expectations are high but I'm nervous they'll try to do something drastically different and make it feel less like animal crossing and more like something else.

We don’t know anything about this game, but Nintendo has been making sure that every game that they make is the best they can be.
They even delayed the Metroid 4 game because they didn’t like the plot, so they’re changing it to appeal fans. They really know the consequences and backlash before releasing games, except for a few. (2012 Paper Mario for example. 2016 Paper Mario follows the same gameplay as Sticker Star’s, but at least the plot has meaning) But sometimes learn from their mistakes.

So yeah, I do believe that Nintendo will make this game more superior than its previous game. And as long as the game has content that really appeals to fans, it’ll sell very well.

Must be the best Animal Crossing game ever since Nintendo makes such a mystery about it.

It could be. Animal Crossing has so much it could have into the switch title, and so honestly it could be the top favorite/most loved.
New Leaf and Gamecube being my favorites, I think ACSwitch could change that depending on the direction it goes.

Every game they've made has been an improvement from the last instillation so I don't see why this one would be any different

I'm sure it will be but I really hope it isn't just New Leaf 2.0 with HHD and Pocket Camp features. I want a new gimmick, new animals, new areas, etc. I've seen a lot of great ideas for the new game here and I've gotten myself way too excited for some of them even though I'm sure they won't be in the game haha

I hope it is, but I'm a little worried because the series has been trending more towards favouring lots of customization and control at the expense of adding depth to the characters (as in NL, HHD, and PC). If they can give a good balance by bringing us back to WW-style characters (which in my opinion is a good balance between GC's harshness and NL's blandness and gave everyone good personalities) and setting a balance of giving us a good amount of customization without going overboard and giving us too much control (which I think NL was edging towards with making us mayor), it can definitely be the best game. They should give us some of the feeling of the older games, being just a normal person starting a new life in a new town, but with a spin on it that makes it suitable for the newest entry in the series, putting in the best bits of every game and adding some great new features while keeping the core idea the same as the earlier games. I get the nagging feeling they're going to keep giving us more control and draining life out of the villagers and special characters, though, but I really hope I'm wrong.

I'm a fan of Wild World too. Maybe it's just a nostalgia thing seeing as it was the first game that I ever played of AC.

I definitely think this could and should be the best game yet! There’s no doubt it will have more features than any game before it, but it’s debatable if that’s what makes a good Animal Crossing game.
