Do you think we will have a similar feature to the online island?

I never really used the online island, except for island hopping and trying to find the pink wetsuit But I do think they'll add something similar to the game since many players love(d) the feature!

I really enjoyed the online island (purely cause I’m too paranoid thanks to trolls to have anyone I don’t know irl come to my town) but I doubt it’ll be included in the game. It’s a pretty large feature and Nintendo haven’t mentioned anything about it. They’ve gone into detail the way online play will work and how many people you can have round at your camp. So I’d imagine if there was an online area in NH, they would have announced it by now.

I'm thinking whatever Harvey's island is for will be the 'online' thing. However, with the fact that eight players can play together at the same time, is it really necessary to have? It would be nice to have, but I'm leaning towards the opinion of 'we don't really need one.'

I’m all for it, as long as they improve upon one of the island tours, and add some more.
Imagine a Mario Kart balloon battle type game, where you run around a map trying to pop opponents’ balloons with your slingshot. 4 v 4 or 8 player free for all.

I had this idea that is inspired from Splatoon. It's basically an online island hub with "online players" inhabiting it, but not in real time (kind of like inkopolis plaza in Splatoon and Pokemon Wild Area). Interacting with these players would allow you to view their clothes and buy items from their "marketplace", which is just a few selected items that they display in their profile for sale. It could also display other info like what you would typically see on a player's TPC with their dream address, etc. on it. These players are random players online, or players you just played tours with. For tours, there would be a hut on this island that allows you to sign up for online tours with random people through online matchmaking. This would be the only place to meet randoms online and of course, tours have time limits so once that tour is done, you leave the player. However, their profile could appear on the island after you played with them so you can view their player info (again, like Splatoon) and even add each other after. This idea could eliminate the problem of having to "wait" on all random online players in order to advance the play session, such as sitting on the chair to start tours or even prevent player hacks in your immediate island. This idea is just for a CT style island, but there’d be somewhere where your visiting friend can do tours with you as well.

Personally, I am hoping that Nintendo is coming up with multiple ways for players to interact on each others island or even do things that require player to travel to other locations. If the only online feature is being able to go onto each others islands, that IMO doesn't justify having to purchase an online subscription. Their should be online tournaments with leaderboards and trophies, new locations to travel to where their are new ways for players to interact and play with each other, or I would even like to see certain objects that can be built on your island that require multiple players to use like mini games. I would also like to see a carnival that visits everyones island on a weekly basis where players can have competitions if they visit each others island or can compete on more leaderboards.

i hope it comes back, i loved playing on the island both online and offline. ive had a lot fo fun on the online island trying to talk to people in the language im learning (french), it makes great practice for common sayings and that way you dont have to reveal too much about urself and still have a good time.

Well, any online activity is now profitable to Nintendo, so there's no reason for them not to add them. It also makes a lot of sense with the island theme. It would be cool if there'd be a lot of different types of islands you can visit.
