Does Anyone Else Have Generally Annoying Or Weird Food Allergies? Share Here!

Used to be mildly allergic to chocolate when I was younger (as in a little was fine, but not a lot). I’m not allergic to anything nowadays though.
I remember a friend of mine used to say she was allergic to chocolate because she hated being judged for not liking it : /

Ah, that’s terrible to be honest. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences and shouldn’t be judged for them and also should be able to be friends with people who don’t have the same tastes and preferences.

I was actually mildly allergic to it to be honest though, as I found out from the doctor at the time. Made holidays like Halloween pretty underwhelming as a kid, haha

It is, but it happened when we were much younger. We were somewhere around 9-12 years old, and you know how kids are, they think you're weird if you don't like something they like or everyone else likes. But after a while when she went back to saying she didn't like it, she didn't get judged as much anymore.

Oh no! Didn't even think about that, personally I never really went trick-or-treating, but I can imagine your disappointment if it's something you liked doing. I wonder if white chocolate would've been better for you? Usually the darker the chocolate the more concentrated it is, and I believe white chocolate comes from the oils making it less concentrated.

Yeah, it was kind of a disappointment but I learned to deal with it. I think white chocolate wasn’t as bad and therefore I could have more of that without triggering an allergic reaction. Dark chocolate was definitely a big no-no though 😆. I’m just glad and thankful I don’t have to deal with it anymore though.

Not a food allergy but I am annoyingly allergic to mosquito bites. I'm guaranteed to get them during the summers, especially at a pool or walking outside when its past 6pm. Most people just get small, red itchy bites, but mine turn into welts that are painful, hard and hot to the touch. Symptoms last anywhere from 4-7 days and are just barely tolerable with two tablets of Benadryl at night. I once had a bite at the bottom of my foot and could not walk for maybe 5-6 days.

Here's a picture of my leg from last summer. Viewer discretion is advised lol

I thought I was the only one 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! Mine also end up bruising, making them last a very long time (they bruise even without me scratching) 😭😭😭😭😭
Thankfully the only place I don't get a terrible reaction is on my face, they just swell up a bit and feel hot to the touch for a while, but will go down after a day or two (plus no bruising!!)

Looks like we both share skeeter syndrome. Thankfully I haven't gotten bit in the face yet!! I'm gonna be extra careful with remembering to spray bug repellent as much as possible this summer lol.

I don't have any food allergies but one day last winter I woke up with hives all over my legs. I went to the doctor and they told me I was showing an allergic reaction to cold weather... You learn something new everyday! Nowadays, if it's especially cold weather I take some antihistamines as soon as I wake up lol

I haven't been tested, but I suspect that I am lactose sensative.

I don't tolerate fried or rich foods well, less so since I had my gallbladder out.

In my teens, I developed an allergy to shrimp (I'm still bitter about it), iodine, and sulfa. The first two cause anaphylactic shock, the last caused vertigo and hallucinations.

gluten (celiac disease), eggs, dairy, shellfish :c it was annoying growing up not able to eat pizza/cake/etc at birthday parties and all that. now it's just really tough to find a decent restaurant that makes food i can have apart from like...salad.

if i eat too much grease my body throws it right back up so i can't eat fast food really. not that its a bad thing in the long run

i have sesame allergies, it sucks! being an asian as well as loving asian food makes life hard for me because there's so many good food BUT I CAN'T EAT ANY OF THEM! honestly, there were times where i just had an epipen ready just so that i could try food that i wanted to try but my parent's wouldn't allow me. i hate anaphylaxis LSKDFJSLDK
i also have the same kind of reaction with basically all nuts, it sucks cuz all the food i want to try have nuts in them.
i'm also lactose intolerant and oh my god, it sucks. i love ice cream and pizza so back then, my stomach would just suffer. thankfully i can eat those by taking a pill beforehand so i don't experience the symptoms that much.
my other allergies include: beans (no coffee+ tofu :( ), pollen/seasonal allergies, vegetables like peas, green beans and eggplant for some reason, most fish, seafood in general, some fruits, and more, i have too many to remember.
my usual allergy symptoms are itchy throat/tongue, hives and sometimes it makes my throat fjdfjskfjsl if you know what i mean. in short, i'm allergic to almost everything and this is why i don't get invited to birthday parties. i may have allergies and lactose intolerance but that does not stop me from eating. what also sucks is that i sadly sweat easily (i got it from my dad's side of the family  ), like i wouldn't be tired but if it's above 20 degrees i'll be sweating, literally the only reason why the only sport i like is swimming. if i sweat too much sometimes, i grow hives on my face. i don't know if that's a normal thing but either way, really gross and inconvenient.
sorry for this long post! i'm just venting LOL
on the bright side, i'm a bit picky sometimes so if i really don't want to eat something, because i'm basically allergic to everything, i just say that i'm allergic to it. people don't question it lskdfjsdlkfj. i usually don't do this though because i like to try new food and not to be that person but i just love to eat.

I'm allergic to soy, which is the most annoying thing because it's in EVERYTHING. Even more annoying as it's a developed allergy so after establishing all my favourite food and snacks, I can't have so many of them now. I can't have shop bought bread (only expensive fresh bread, but even then some of the fresh ones have soy) and I can't have kinder, and after growing up in Germany on and off, kinder was my go to chocolate 🥺 I also can't eat at any asian restaurants either as they use soy sauce as a base for everything >,<

I'm allergic to alot of things. But still eat them cause idc. They make me itch. The thing that I really can't eat is shellfish like shrimp. That could kill me.

If you count lactose intolerance, i have a minor case of that. I usually ignore it and subsequently hate my life after finishing off a big bowl of ice cream or anything laden with cheese.

I do have super sensitive skin though, so I can't use things like scented soaps, lotions, or perfumes at all. Some scents seem ok, but they usually get expensive for me to keep, so I've gotten used to just not wearing any nice smelling things, haha.

I used to not have any food allergies but one day I was eating shrimp and my lip got very puffy/throat itchy. I got an allergy test which confirmed the allergy, turns out you can develop an allergy to any food at any point in life no matter how much you have had the food.

I believe I am also mildly allergic to citrus and try to avoid it. I also can’t have whole milk, because I get stomach issues. I’m totally fine with ice cream, yogurt, cheese etc. As soon as I switched to almond milk all of the stomach problems went away so I don’t drink whole milk anymore.

I thought I was the only one with that citrus thingy... Eating and drinking citrus make some part of my stomach hurt so bad. Last time I drank orange juice it hurt so much that I threw myself to the bed for some hours, same with milk. Sadly, other types of milk are very expensive to buy so no milk for me.

Now I have to eat those vitamin C pills to get more of it.

i have an allergy to pineapples. never really liked it before i discovered it was messing up my body a lot so it's whatever.

only thing that sucks is that i never had the opportunity to try Hawaiian Pizza soo... i can't join the pineapples on pizza debate :(
