I’m a huge harvest moon fan. I’ve played almost every game in the series. My favorite are: Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility, and I’m currently playing Harvest Moon: Animal Parade.
I find that I tend to love those games for the same things that I wish I could do in animal crossing: having a family, dating someone, the different way time passes, the different tasks and skills you can build, and watching your family grow up. And I think I love animal crossing for the things you can’t do in harvest moon; animal villagers, how time passes, better shopping options that change every day, that the villagers change in the game.
Both these game series have a really special place in ma heart! I usually go through phases of playing one or the other a lot. Does anyone else love these games series as well? If so, which ones and why?

Haha I'm literally playing it right now

Another wonderful life is my all time favorite one, and I've played most of them. It feels the most true to me, a little somber but funny too, and it has such lovable characters as well, lol rip nina. But that too, the towns folk have such real world problems which I really liked. The ost is awesome, so nostalgic. I feel so weird when I listen to it now as an adult, it makes me feel like I'm 6 again (I still have my copy from 2005,, that disc is scratched to hell but still works haha)

I've played Friends of Mineral town. It's a solid game with so much to do in it. Just make sure you accept the horse early on because I played through the game without ever having a horse to do the racing :I

There a 2 copies of the game. One is where your male and the other is where your female. But the Female version of the game is a lot harder to find.

Wrong forum, but yeah I used to played Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns before if it counts

I played Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns when I was starting high school. I loved it but I got so addicted that I had to force myself to stop playing it cold turkey :p it was a real problem. I still think it's a great game though.

I've played Tale of Two Towns and Animal Parade, both of which I heard are solid games in the series; I've heard some other HM titles aren't as good. I would like to play Hope of Light or Light of Hope whatever it's called, once I get a Switch. However I'm not really so big on the farming aspect. My favorite thing to do is raise animals, cook and forage.

I got back into playing HMDS Cute recently. I still love it, but I'm stuck in fall, since I'm working on getting Pluto and I basically just filled up the entire town with yams.

LoH is made by a different company, just FYI. Marvelous, the company that developed the original games, decided to start localizing under their subsidiary XSEED, but Natsume kept the rights to the name Harvest Moon. Marvelous' new games are now published under the title Story of Seasons.

I've played Harvest Moon since it was out on the SNES!!!!

My favorite game in the series is Harvest Moon 64. Apparently more people played Back to Nature, which is very similar, but HM 64 is where I really fell in love with the series. I loved ToT and Animal Parade too. I played a lot of A Wonderful Life, but the game was so long, I never made it past the third stage of life. Plus, I married Nami, who sucks.

I've been buying the games for the 3DS now, too. I played a Tale of Two Towns (didn't love it) and Story of Seasons (which I did love!) I will basically buy any Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game and play it if I can. I just love the series so much.

I also bought Stardew Valley which gives me the feel of the old Harvest Moon games, which I love as well. <3333

I used to play Harvest Moon when I was really young, but I could never really get into it. I would love to play again, but I'm not sure which ones would be good to play at the moment.

I played Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life a long long time ago on a former best friend's gamecube. I own Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade on the wii and used to obsessively play both back in middle school. My favorite parts were building a family and raising/caring for the farm animals and pets and just watching the island come to life. They are lovely games, it's the soundtrack, the animations/characters, and just that raw "realistic" aspect with a unique storyline. I don't think I'll be getting back into playing them, but they certainly have a place in my heart.

I have never played Harvest Moon. I'm not quite so certain I'd like it. I've also watched a few Let's Plays just to see if it would interest me, but none of the videos I watched has pulled me in quite as much as the way the ACNL Let's Play that I watched did. I've kind of been curious but not enough to take the plunge and buy a game. I've heard lots of good things about it though, so who knows, maybe one day I'll try it.

I must be super duper old because I really don't understand the appeal of watching Let's Plays. The closest I will get is if I'm reading a game guide and don't understand the instructions, I'll look online to see if actually visualizing what's happening will help me understand it. But I'm a control freak and would much prefer to play the game myself rather than watch someone play.

I feel like Harvest Moon is a game that is a lot better suited to playing yourself rather than watching someone play. There are so many choices you can make and the game can be different depending on those choices you make. I would say to give it a shot if you can find an emulator or a cheap copy of one of the older games somewhere. Or even give Stardew Valley a shot, because that game is super duper similar to the older Harvest Moon games and it is a lot of fun.

If I'm interested in a game but I'm not too sure of it, I'll watch the first episode of a let's play just to see what the game is like. I don't watch further than that and I usually will stop the video the moment I know I'm interested so I don't really consider it spoilers hehe.

I actually played Stardew Valley and loved it! I used a ton of mods though because I wanted my buildings to look different and change the models of the animals but when the huge update came out, they all stopped working. And it was really hard to go back to vanilla and change my play style. :( so I stopped playing it unfortunately. Which sucks cuz I really liked my farm! Just designed it with the modded appearances so when I took all those off, everything looked weird. I might actually start over one day and just play vanilla so I don't have to worry about updates ruining everything .

As for Harvest Moon, who knows, one day I might pick it up, but it would have to be dirt cheap. I'm a very picky gamer I suppose lol. Like I'm curious enough that if it was right in front of me, I'd try it, but not if I have to make a purchase. I'm so afraid of not liking games and having it be a waste.

Yes, I've been playing the HM games for 15+ years. :)

I bought Light of Hope on PS4 recently and I'm enjoying it.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life and the first DS title were my favorites back then, I loved playing these
games and spent lots of time into them. However, at one point, I stopped carring for Harvest Moon. Idk,
it didn't caught my attention anymore and I didn't played any of the newer titles either.
