Does anyone else love the uchi dialogue?

Their dialogue is the best imo. I like how grounded they are, and how they clash with the other personalities.
While crankies have had all...spiciness drained from their personalities, which bothers me a bit, uchi villagers are almost like a successor.
It baffles me when people think uchis are too mean and rude though? I mean, they're more mischievous and teasing than outright "mean." It makes me think of when ppl assume the worst possible reading of a villager's dialogue bc they think they're ugly and want to hate them lol
To be completely honest I feel like some people just think all the uchis are ugly so they try to justify it by going "i hate agnes because she's super mean and rude and the worst!!" when Agnes probably only said one slightly mischievous thing... maybe that's an exaggeration but yeah, I don't get it either. I don't even think most of them have bad designs--the majority of them are cute to me! I only wish there were more of them so there'd be more variety.

I loved them in NL and I sometimes love them still, but I’ve been disappointed that my two uchi villagers are the ones that get tired of talking to me REALLY fast. One of them is Hazel, who moved onto the island when I arrived on March 20, so it’s not like our friendship levels aren’t high enough. All my other villagers will talk to me 3-4 times per day but my Uchis passive-aggressively ask me if we need a bigger island the second time I talk to them. It makes me feel like I annoy them. I love their conversations with other villagers though! Renée wanted me to join her band.
That's strange that they still say that to you, Reneigh hasn't said it to me in ages and I also had her as one of my first villagers and started the game on launch day! :( I wish there would just be a set friendship level you have to reach and then that dialogue never shows up again or something.

I love the uchi dialogue! Tbh my Reneigh who has the uchi personality sounds more like a female smug to me lol. Honestly the closest personality to being rude to the palyer is probably the snooty, I am constantly being judged by snooty's for my outfits and probably gossiped about but I love it because it's just funny.

I love uchis! I don't understand why people don't like them haha. They tend to be more blunt than other personality types, but people forget how rude snooties used to be lol. Fuschia was hands down my favorite villager based on personality in ACNL.

I think people definitely get distracted by aesthetics: a really clear example of this is that everyone says they hate smug villagers & talks about how awkward & weird they are. They often flirt with the player, adding to their "weirdness". But everyone loves Raymond & Marshal lol, because when they do it, it's adorable- it's only the ugly smugs that are disliked! Crankies, who are like the male equivalent of uchis in terms of 'rudeness', have a bunch of cute villagers, so they aren't really complained about much. There's nothing wrong with evaluating your villagers based on their cuteness- it's just a game about cute animals - but you could absolutely make the inference that people would forgive the uchis for their blunt attitude if there were more cute uchis. Nintendo should throw in some uchi wolves lol

I liked the uchis in NL, but so far it's my least favourite personality in NH. I've only had Diva so far who I actually like (or at least liked), but by the second or third time I talk to her in a day, she seems to get annoyed (even if the last time I talked to her was hours ago), and I always get the impression she hates having me around, even though I think we have a pretty good friendship. I find her dialogue to be pretty repetitive as well, despite me only talking to her a few times a day to avoid her getting snarky at me (she usually either talks about babysitting or what I did the previous day). Maybe it'd be less repetitive if I talked to her more, but so far she's just been discouraging me from doing that.

For the record, I loved the rude snooties and crankies in previous games, but even though uchis are a little blunt (which I didn't mind in NL), I feel like they shouldn't be talking about wanting to go to another island to get away from me after talking to me a few times - I think that would fit the crankies better, yet no matter how often I talk to Bruce, he always seems thrilled to see me.

I love the uchi/sisterly dialogue back in NH and here in NH too! And I'm pretty sure that the general consensus is that it isn't the uchi personality that's hated, but rather many people find the uchi villager designs unappealing. This, I think, is where the hate comes from. I'm pretty much in the same boat, I'm just not a fan of a lot of their designs. Some uchis designs I love do include Phoebe, Reneigh and Dierdre!

I had no idea they do that since Reneigh stopped doing it to me a few days after I got the game! She never says dialogue that indicates she's annoyed with me anymore and gives me a lot of varied dialogue so it's a surprise to me that people feel like their uchis are annoyed with them :( Maybe nintendo will fine-tune the dialogue a bit because I really feel like they should stop saying that kind of stuff once you reach a certain friendship threshold.

The reason I get the impression that uchis are hated is because both here and on other sites, I often see people list uchis as their least favorite personality (eta: that and, as others on this thread have mentioned, I have seen people specifically bring up their dialogue and say they're too mean as a reason for disliking them). That tells me that they're not well-liked regardless of if it's because of the designs or the dialogue, and as a result I just don't see much appreciation for them in either aspect. There are a lot of them whose designs I love and honestly don't understand why they're not more popular, though! Even in the case of Phoebe I once saw a popular tweet calling her weird and ugly and I literally do not get how, I mean she's a phoenix! She's got one of the coolest designs in the game imo!

I love uchis and their designs are more my style than a lot of the popular villagers, which can be too cutesy for me at times.

But I love their little attitudes and big hearts. (Similarly, crankies are near and dear to my heart. Those are probably my favorite two personality types.)

Gosh well that's sad. Never found their dialogue to be mean myself. Either I'm reading it wrong or maybe they're too sensitive? They for sure would never be able to handle snooty/cranky dialogue in the older games. Those are the real mean dialogues. And I will fight anyone who calls Phoebe ugly  she's such an awesome villager

Do smugs still flirt with the player in NH? I remember they flirted with you if you were a girl in NL but I never saw Tex do it when I had him, never saw Raymond do it in the brief time I had him (yes I let Raymond go lol, long story short I had to because I accidentally got him as a random when someone was holding a villager for me), and I've never seen Julian do it so I thought that was a thing of the past! Maybe I've just been lucky or haven't noticed lol. But yes, either way you're right, in NL they did do that and they also had that "you're looking as cool as a fair number of cucumbers" dialogue that a lot of people found annoying and complained about, but when it was Marshal or Julian nobody was bothered by it. I actually think the majority of the uchis are adorable but I can see to a certain extent why they don't appeal to people. It doesn't help at all that there are so few of them to choose from--there are more different species in the game than the total number of uchis!
Also, to add to your point about cuteness, I honestly think a lot of people would benefit from allowing at least one of their spots to stay open for cycling for a little while instead of trying to get all their dreamies right away. I've had villagers who I thought had ugly designs grow on me and seem adorable to me once I've had them for just a couple of weeks! Sometimes you just get a better impression of a villager's design seeing them in-game with their different animations and facial expressions as opposed to looking at a screenshot and instantly deciding they're ugly. A lot of villagers also just seem to have better models in NH, for example I never liked Fuchsia before but I think she looks so cute now.

I really like the uchis! I really like how snarky and sarcastic they are, but everyone thinks they're really mean or rude, but I personally don't think so. They do come off as blunt but they mean it in a good way. however, there aren't that many uchi villagers I like designwise except for Mira, which I like. I kinda miss her tho.

Nah, they're certainly a bit more blunt than the other personalities but I wouldn't call them mean either. Some people on this thread have said it's frustrating that they keep saying stuff like "is this island not big enough for the both of us? do we need to get another island?" and the like after barely speaking to them, making it seem like they're really quickly annoyed by you, and I can understand that but actually had no idea it was an issue since Reneigh stopped using those lines on me really quickly! Other than that though, the uchi dialogue doesn't come off as mean to me at all.

Mira is one of my favorite villagers overall tbh! Her house in NH is super weird compared to her NL house which makes me kinda sad, but I've always thought her design was so cute.

the reason i don't have an uchi is because theres no designs i can really get behind (seems im not the only one, judging from the posts here) but i'd say i'll have one sometime down the road because they do seem interesting, and i wouldn't mind having an island bully lmao

Uchi personality type reminds me of my close friend, and I drag her whenever Cherry says something relatable, which is all the time lmao

I find them endearing and hilarious to chat with. Big sisterly, blunt type summarizes them up in a nutshell

Cranky and uchi are the most entertaining personalities. Smug is a little too overbearing, lazy is too babyish but sometimes funny, and normals are the cutest but are boring. Snooties are ok but get boring. Jocks...no thanks. Peppy...double no thanks.
