Does anyone else think Nintendo is really careless with the demand of amiibo cards and figures?

I think that they need to keep the collectible value of the amiibos and that is why the supply is short and limited.

Do I agree with it? no but it's how it goes.

I'm a funko pop! collector and I hav some pieces worth $300+ and some less than the original price, I think is a gamble with each character how it's gonna sell.

Also making your own amiibos is not hard at all, so that's also something to consider.

Not sure if talking about this is against the rules but personally I'm just going to get custom made amiibo cards/figures. I like supporting artists anyway plus they're all really cute, I don't have the money to maybe get the animal I want, plus I don't really know how to store those cards?

IDK it's different, Funko pops don't really do anything, like most collectibles but Amiibos add to the gameplay and helps with getting through a sloggy grind. If they were just figures or cute cards it'd be completely different IMHO. I do agree it's also extremely easy and cheaper to make your own

That Nintendo didn't have cards in stock for the first year of NH and let the scalpers and homemade Etsy shops gobble up all the sales demonstrates they have not been prepared for the demand.
Seriously, I have to admit, I'm grateful to the Etsy shops that make the amiibo cards. At the same time, Nintendo, LET ME SUPPORT YOU! I'm willing to buy legit amiibo cards for AC but I can't even get my hands on them! I guess I'm lucky for the tiny collection of legit cards that I DO have. I bought them like a year or two before NH came out while perfecting my NL town so I got some packs for like pretty low prices.

Scalpers aren’t just doing this with Amiibo cards. You can pretty much buy anything in bulk and sell it on eBay for profit. I saw this a few years ago when a local store had Mountain Dew Violet cans (a flavor exclusive to Japan). They limit one or two per customer, but they sell for a ton on eBay. Not to justify their actions, but it’s just something people will do and there isn’t a way to stop it. This sucks for fans of the game and card collectors, but if people want the packs bad enough, they will pay the prices. I know some people can wait, but there’s a reason scalpers are still in business. People pay their prices because they want the item.

I'm inclined to think it's intentional at this point. You don't just have a product going for this long without realizing just how much of a demand there is. I'm wondering if maybe it's also partially because no one wanted the Amiibo cards when they first came out (I bought so many packs for basically free because me and like 5 other people played HHD apparently haha) and that's what's behind the limited supply this time around.
I think there's probably some truth to this, but Nintendo also isn't gaining as much money as they could be from it, so I'm not totally sure. They don't get anything from scalpers reselling, either, so if it is intentional they're setting themselves up to make a lot less profit than what they could be making. In the case of the Amiibo cards it doesn't make much sense either since they're literally paper, and AC has exploded in terms of popularity in the last two years, so I just don't get it.
