I used to not really care about what characters I got, but when my dreamies started coming in I got picky. Usually I'm angry when a non desired character moves into my town just because I needed the space.

I agree that it probably doesn't depend only on how the villagers look but also on people's experiences with them. I had Tex who moved in as one of my initial, randomly-moved-in nine villagers. He's a smug, which I now have another smug, Ken. And although I'm still alright with Ken, I started to despise Tex! He just always seemed to want to hit on me and tell me things like how he was getting lost in my eyes. I was starting to think of him as a total pig! Ken hasn't followed any of those lines of dialogue yet, though I bet he would if I got to be better friends with him, which makes me kind of want to avoid doing that. :X I'll probably let him move out if and when ever he asks, I kind of want another Jock villager anyway, to replace Biff.

i don't really agree. i disliked a villager once and got really annoyed with her and she was peppy. but when i finally got her to move out i got pompom in, and now ruby was in my campsite and i asked her to move in too. it depends imo.

but yeah, there should be more types of personalities or something, i hate it when i get almost an identical letter from two villagers or something like that

I find the Peppy type VERY annoying unless the villager is super cute, otherwise all the "I'm a celebrity, I get so much fanmail!" stuff just comes across as completely deluded. When Peggy the Pig was carrying on like that it was like "Who do you think you are? Your're hideous! Stop making out like you're a superstar villager!" Urgh, WORST VILLAGER EVER... When an awesome Peppy like Bluebear or Cherri carries on like that I don't mind because I feel it's justified!

I don't know, other factors can influence it too. Cally was the very first villager to invite me over and treat me kindly in my current game. Even though I find other Normal villagers more cute than her now, she's still directly on par with them. Gladys, another normal villager, always let her house get messed up to the point where she didn't even have a sofa or a bed to sleep on. I kept sending her beds in the mail but she wouldn't put them in her house, so I came to regard her as kind of helpless and stupid. Even though she is cute, I didn't mind seeing her go.
