A little while ago on another forum, I was denied bunnie because apparently she wasn't my 'dreamie'. I have seen numerous people saying this criteria as well. I like lots of villagers, so I don't have a set list of dreamies. But why should I not be allowed villagers because of this? There are a few villagers that I REALLY like (including Bunnie :'( ) but I just don't want to make an obvious dreamie list - I like seeing and making friends with new villagers too; I don't just strive to get dreamies.
I know some people will want Bunnie more than me, but it just seems unfair that someone will go 'oh not you' because I don't have a precise list :(
Sorry for the whining, I'm just frustrated by this :p and yes I know it's only a game and they're just pixels :p
Has anyone else felt like this? Or am I just being silly?

I think this whole villager trading is strange stuff to begin with really, doesn't help that its so systematic either. I hope they get rid or tone down the feature in the next title.

Its ultimately up to the seller who gets the villager regardless, but doesn't it make more sense to give the villager away to someone who's been trying to get them forever, wants them really badly instead of someone who just wants a new villager to fill up a spot?

Especially if they are being given away for free, I wouldn't complain. Be lucky there are even people willing to do that, because most popular villagers are only sold for millions.

I think it's a way of people trying to see whether that villager is going to just be sold off for a profit or not. I don't believe in that practice personally; I would prefer some villagers over others but I wouldn't consider them dreamies, and I hope the villagers I give away just go to good homes. But I guess it's up to the person giving the villager away :/

I do recognise that the seller wants to know that I wouldn't just sell it again, and that is an issue. But I feel like the whole 'dreamie' thing has gone way too far! I really like Bunnie, and saw a thread for her but was denied her because i havent dedicated my sig to her. I just wish the whole thing was more.... Casual? xD

I'm hoping people who are super rabid about the game lose interest in it sooner or later and the 'villager economy' levels out a bit. I just want to meet Punchy some day, but he goes for bajillions!

Yeah! Hopefully the die-hards will calm down soon :p or maybe soon they'll all have gotten their 'dreamies', so more will be left for us xD

I'll never accept anyone who treat villagers like a slave. Yup! This whole villager trade-thing is just like slave trading. I do realize that this is just a game. Though i still feel uneasy every time i see people trading villagers for profit. But then again, it's their own game so i don't have the right to tell them what to do. C:

I think it really depends on the websites you go to, too. If you go to forums specifically for AC, like this one, you'll find much more competitive players there. If you go to other websites it will be much more relaxed. I've met so casual players on tumblr willing to give away furniture, hybrids, even villagers for free. You kinda have to shop around a bit.

But I'd rather give my villager to someone else than just send them into a void ;-;

Thank you, I might try that :)

I never really found Villager Trading/Selling interesting. I usually just let them move out heh. I had the Unicorn dude once, but he moved. I felt bad that I could have "sold" him, because I'm saving Bells, but I don't really get into Villager Trading.

I don't have dreamies, either. I just have Stitches, who I will never let move. Heh.

Yeah neither have I really, apart from to get my cutie, Moe <3 Just annoyed its turned into such an exclusive, serious thing on these forums!

I agree it is a little unfair to the people who don't post stuff in their signature that they want specific villagers (it's a hassle if you do anyway because then you have to update it every time something changes if you have a nice picture sig; mine's outdated), but I also understand that there are folks out there that want to prevent the "slave traders" from just buying and selling them off again. That just doesn't feel right to me.

I won't deny people a villager when they make an offer on one of my threads but I am a little skeptical when they don't list that they like/want them somewhere because I'm not sure if they'll sell them off or not. But like you said, I don't want to send them off into a void, either. Even when characters I don't particularly care for move out, I just post an auction pricing the character at like 1,000 bells to make it affordable for everyone, and then people can pay however much they're willing to pay for the villager.

There are probably other ways to go about villager trading, but I don't think any way will ever be 100% "fair." There will always be someone disappointed because they were left out of a trade. It is kind of unfair that you were left out due to discrimination, though, and not because you weren't the first there or the highest bidder.

Yeah I suppose you're right - it will never be completely fair to everyone. I wish all the giveaways were first-come-first-serve, but of course it's up to the person and it's very nice of them to give away villagers anyway. And I guess it's also a matter of trusting people - I would want to give villagers to a loving home, not sold on again, so I get why people discriminate. It's just discouraging though!

I think it is annoying. I don't have ten dreamies, but I have a few ones I might like. Just because I don't list them doesn't mean I don't want them more than the next guy.
I mean, that's how I see it. I'm not out for Stitches or anything, but if I had gotten Zucker or Octavian, I wouldn't complain.

It's not that i don't like giving my villager to someone else. I just don't like the way people make use of 'everything' in this game to make Bells. Like, "Hey, Julian moved in to my town! Now i can sell him for 9,999,999* Bells! Yaay!". I mean, come on! There are stalk market & island already. Are those two not enough to make Bells? There are also some people who abuse TT to make huge profit, if you know what i mean.

Totally agree! Just because the said villager isn't listed on my sig doesn't mean I don't want it! :(

Yeah I agree with that. I'm not really sure of the whole using villagers to make money. I mean, they're not real, but it still seems strange to me :p I just would want someone to have my villager and be happy. :)

When giving away more popular villagers, I have asked that the person asking for them treat them as a permanent resident of their town, but I've given them to people based on just believing them and not requiring them to have a signature about it, lol. I think having to "prove" it's your dream villager is a little much. Someone could easily throw a picture of Bob or Wolfgang into their sig or even just type their name, it doesn't mean anything, really.
