Does this frustrate anyone?

Edited my above post, second part is why :) and, why would someone go through the [albeit small] process to put a pic in their sig/avatar if they were just going to turn around and sell for profit? A sig almost confirms that they won't. Like someone else said, not fool proof, but a bigger chance than if you just say you like them.

Well if I wanted to make some money I think it would be pretty easy to write some names in my sig and say they're my dream villagers ... I personally think it's more effort to write a small paragraph on why you want them. It would be nice if things were done that way, I have seen a few threads like that. Or simply just first come first serve. A silly little signature really doesn't prove anything.

Hmmm I don't know, it doesn't really make sense to me because I don't think putting something your sig show's you REALLY want something. And some people (like me lol) can't really be artistic or anything with their sig, so then they miss out. But obviously there's not really another way on these forums to prove that you want someone, so it's a bit poo. I just think people shouldn't discriminate just by someone's sig.
Yeah I know it sucks. But what can you do? It's just trust whether they'll pass on the 'dreamie' or not. Maybe you can write an essay why you want them instead lmao

idk i have a dreamie list in a link, mostly because i like how my sig is right now.

though a sig isn't always needed - ive gotten all of my dreamies without them. though you can find a list of them in my villagers link, i doubt people would click it. the only time i put a dreamie was when i was looking for rolf, but i got no offers. i got him from a friend though

but a sig probably makes it seem like you really want the villager and you won't trade them. esp if i see them posting in threads looking for them ah
and a sig makes it easier for people looking for dreamies and trades.

I haven't actually gotten any villagers from users on here, so this hasn't affected me much, but it did help giving them away instead of waiting for a villager to be claimed.
I've only handed out a few villagers, but before posting them on the giveaway I'd do a quick Ctrl+F of the villagers name on the most recent pages on the villager giveaway thread and if anyone had them listed as a Dreamie or in a post I'd offer it to them, if not I'd use the spreadsheet that no one ever used and see if anyone was online of those few. Then if the villager had no one wanting them online then I'd post.

I'd never insist they had them listed in the signatures if I posted though. It was first come, first serve then.

Yeah, I know I'm not gonna be able to change people's opinions on here - they will either judge me by my sig or not.

I just want to add, I'm not the sort of person who goes and cries if I don't get a villager. It's just a game after all. But it just seems like needless discrimination.

That's a good way of doing it! :)

Um what frustrates me more is how everyone is trying to sell like every villager for something. Sorry, but no one is going to pay anything for something like Frita. Because of the new villager trading forum, it seems everyone's trying to sell everything.

I'm only frustrated how I'm too poor so I can't buy Marshal. That is all.

*ninja poofs*

Yeah people are getting too obsessed with selling things :(

Mmhmm before when there was just the exchange thread & giveaway thread, it was awesome. People sold things in one thread, and the giveaway thread was updated like rapidly with new villagers all the time. Now -everyone- is trying to make a buck off of their unwanted villager.

I don't see the point in requiring that the villager be in the person's sig.

There's no 100% accurate way of knowing whether the villager will be given a good home or will just be sold for millions of bells somewhere else.

I'll be giving away villagers (hardest part is deciding which ones), and I'll try to find them a good home, but if someone is being disingenuous and just turns around and sells/trades them, well they can enjoy their bad karma lol.

I agree! I just like to trust people, and anyway if they traded the villager away... It's not the end of the world is it? The villager will eventually go to a welcoming home :)

Yeah its dumb because, like, what if youre new and have no idea on how to set up a sig? (Dumb just like that biased Punchy thingy). Thats half the reason why i trot around with a massive dream list sometmes.

oh god yeah that's a perfect example. That just proves why people should do first come first serve in a giveaway, unless they specify something else.

Nobody ever said there was lol, but its a lot more likely that someone who went thru the trouble of putting them in sig/avi/whatever won't sell them
I never said that someone said there was.

At some point, one just has to trust that people will do the right thing. What if they haven't decided on their dreamies (like me, it'd be agonizing trying to figure it out)? What if they think the whole idea of dreamies is ridiculous? And it doesn't take long at all to update one's sig (unless one specifies it needs to be a fancy one) or to do an image search for villager X to use as an avatar.

I never said that you said that someone said that there was ... LOL kidding

And again, I didn't say it took long - I have actually been saying its a quick process lol so why not do it if you really want a villager? Like I would assume that you like [and possibly want] Tangy because of your avi, and if I was getting rid of him and you and someone else without an avi wanted him, I'd probably give him to you because I can clearly see that you like him

LOL, that would be an interesting game: "I never said that you said that someone said that you said that I said" train

Actually, I just picked Tangy because I was feeling too lazy to find a cute avatar of an orange to go with my username. I've never had her, so I don't know if I'd really like her or not. And right now I have Bubbles, who I think is absolutely awesome.

Lol I got confused after the second round I would certainly lose that game lmao

& Tangy's cute but I wouldn't want him. (her?) ....... There are no avi's of my current dreamies (Bob was one until I got him last night!) Would really like one of Flora but I suck at photoshopping lol

This reminds me EXACTLY of when I used to play neopets, an addiction that was quite like mine to AC now xD Anyhow, on neopets there's an entire trading hierarchy of pets, "painted" colors (painting a pet makes it more valuable and changes it's appearance). If you don't have certain, top-of-the-line pets, often which is was impossible to obtain unless by luck, you really couldn't trade.

Then of course, there were converted vs. unconverted pets. Around 2007 or so, I dunno, neopets changed there artstyle, leaving many people unhappy. Some pets were left intact, or "unconverted". These pets are worth amazing, incredible trades, almost impossible to every truly imagine. If you wanted a "UC" and joined after 2007, you weren't in luck. And...eventually I grew tired of this nonsense and gave it up.

I wonder if anyone else plays on here? I still visit occasionally. The one good thing about all the trading was that you could not trade pets for money, like they do here. Maybe, who knows, if that option went away then the "slave-trade" thing wouldn't be so bad xD

I'm still a hypocrite xD I have dreamies in my sig right below...

I used to play that!!! Ah.. so long ago. Don't forget about "well-named" pets (no underscores, numbers, not too long) and "decently named." Also, pronounceable 2/3 letter pets lol Good times. Although, I don't see a problem with the current system. I mean, if people want to dish out big bells for villagers, so be it. It's just a way to get the villagers they want faster than other people who won't pay anything. Also, signatures aren't that hard to make. I mean, you could just type:

Dreamies: Bob, Punchy, Julian, Diana.

Done. You don't have to have a fancy signature. If you don't know how to make a signature:
1. Under Forum Home, click on forum actions.
2. Click edit profile.
3. Under the "My Settings Tab" click "Edit Signature"

Now you know! Enjoy getting your dream villagers XD Can't be turned down now.

Or just click on this link (now sure if it works but I'll list it anyway :))

Yeah, some people don't believe me when I say that ______ is a villager that I would really love to have. It does get a little annoying feeling like I'm required to have an ugly block of text in my signature stating my "dream" villagers.

I don't see any problem with selling villagers to people who are going to trade or sell them anyway, the villager WILL end up going to someone who really wants them eventually.

That's the reason why I stopped participating in all this trading nonsense because it's a waste of time and it makes the game boring. Now, I only give out my villagers for free when they want to move.
