Doing nothing at the plaza? Is this a feature or a bug?

Today I noticed Rolf and Diana sitting at the plaza. Literally doing nothing.

This happened once before, back in summer, when I found Dom sitting by his lonesome at the plaza, facing the building, staring at nothing. Is it a feature or a bug? Has it happened to you? Animals sometimes sit on a bench together at the plaza. Or on little stools. When they sit on the ground, usually there's someone singing. But this is weird. Why is this a thing?

They weren't wearing sunglasses were they? I've never seen them sit towards the town hall.
I've really only seen them hang out...and clap at the Christmas tree.

Yesterday, during the K.K. concert, Cranston stood in front of the R.S. doors and didn’t move for 30 minutes, not until I pushed him away. He didn’t even sit... maybe there’s a new R.S. bug(s)?

Nope, they weren't. In summer, I think, they'd sit on the ground with their sunglasses on. But they'd be facing you, not the building.

I had this happen once, but in front of them was Phoebe, standing, and it looked like she was telling a story or something like that. I took a screenshot but haven't sent to my phone yet (I did the same thing as you did, sitting between them haha)

That's so strange and also adorable. It's weirdly fitting for how random NH is.

That's strange! Maybe a pathing problem? He got stuck trying to walk by because of K.K. and all the stools out there? I have no idea.

Ever since we could, I can never pass up the chance to sit down wherever my residents are sitting down! Even when the situation is just plain weird like that.

Ooh. I've never seen a campfire at my plaza. (BBQ, yes. Campfire, no.) But I think I've seen other players' screenshots, and if there's a campfire, don't the animals sit facing away from the building? Facing the player?

This happened to me as well. Lucky just stood outside R.S. doing nothing yesterday...weird

Yeah,there should be a singer in front of the sitting villagers.I've noticed that sometimes there are two villagers exercising in the plaza and a third villager comes by a bit later and joins them.....same thing with the K.K. concert.The singer just might be running late.Of course,it could also be a bug but I like to think that our villagers are simply laid back and not all that concerned with being on time.

I had this happen the other day actually. Sat alone facing the town hall it was Coco. There was no one or nothing around.

I've seen this happen before. After a while a villager will stand in front of them and start to sing. It's pretty awkward though like they are pressuring another village to come over and sing.

We're just not used to "people" sitting alone with their thoughts or just enjoying the world. I can barely sit for 5 minutes without looking at my phone.

yeah I've only ever seen this with another villager singing in front of them! maybe they're just absorbing the last of the winter sun

Yesterday Coach was standing in the same place for almost an hour in the plaza and then flurry walked over and stood behind him. both doing nothing. even when I was walking in and out of buildings they didnt move. Res services is just cursed as heck im certain

I think it's a winter thing as I've never seen it happen until it snowed. Now I see it every few days. I'll look for a screenshot to share later.

I had this happen to me once back in spring, but Diana and Ruby were sitting in front of Julian, who was singing. It was like he was giving a concert, one of my favorite moments I've had in the game so far lol

Normally when they sit with their backs to you, its because they are watching another villager sing (Which is the cutest thing ever).

I saw this for the first time this morning, but a third villager was singing, like others have said in this thread.
