Dream Address randomly changed

I went to update my dream address one final time before the online shuts down, but it was taking a really long time to update for some reason, and when it was done, it changed to a completely different dream address. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what do you think was the cause?

I should also mention that I updated my town frequently, so it’s definitely not because I went so long without updating it

Yeah this happened to me and my family too a few weeks ago, not sure what it is but there are multiple dream addresses of each of their towns in existence now.

A slow internet connection or your WIFI hiccup while you were in the middle of updating was the cause.
This happened to one of my other New Leaf towns a long time ago.

Wait this isn't normal? My dream address changes every time I update it, so about once a month.

This has happened to me before too! I've noticed that dreams are connected to your NNID, so if they've played from a different system or had their town cloned by a hacker then maybe that caused it. If that's not it then idk what is, maybe a connection issue?
