Earning spores

Oh I didn't know you could earn dangerous spores 
It looks like once you hit the cap for viewing threads, which appears to maybe be 18 events (you get a few spores each time), then there’s a cool down. I’m gonna guess it’s 24 hours cuz I haven’t earned anymore that way since I hit the cap yesterday afternoon. I’ve still gotta wait a couple hours if that’s the correct cool down time. Posting, on the other hand, I don’t seem to have hit a cool down if there is one, but as noted in this thread there seems to be some sort of minimum word count (not sure what it is exactly) so very short posts that are only a few words won’t earn anything.
Of note: it looks like this morning I got spores 2 different times very close together from other people viewing my profile. Both were from different people. So while I only got 1 event of getting spores while I viewed someone’s profile yesterday and it hasn’t been 24 hours since then yet, I guess there must be a higher (or maybe even no) limit if other people look at yours.

Did you get the spores or did they get the spores? Pay careful attention to that. I think it notifies you when someone else earns spores by viewing your profile, but you aren't actually getting those spores.
I'm always pleased how many purple spores I can get in a day (after the cooldown has elapsed). I think it's nice that you can just lurk and get spores. But it doesn't give enough spores to hit 90 each day, so the event does encourage a little posting activity if you want to maximize your efforts. I think it's a nice balance though.
Oh yeah I guess you’re right it does look like the one balance was different from what mine was at the time. The first one is only 1 off from what my balance at that time was given the addition of 2 spores, so I thought I was getting them. That’s interesting that you see other people earning spores

I was wondering if now that mushies cost a little bit more (11 spores instead of 9, the price in Round 1), if spore generation would increase, but it looks like mostly it seems the same. I am seeing more 8 spore rewards for posting (Red spores) but I’m not sure yet if that’s a reward trend/increase or if I just started getting more wordy
Because I also did get a 4 spore reward for a 1-liner this round too. So I’m assuming I just got a little more wordy.

I’ve only gotten dangerous spores twice so I can’t really speak to that, but with regular posting I have definitely noticed that longer posts get more spores, though I think it is still somewhat of a small random range
Also the other night I fell asleep before I could finish earning all the purple spores for the day, then earned the rest in the morning. I was afraid the cool down wouldn’t reset til morning because of that, but it seemed to actually reset around the time I had started earning them, not finished. And I got all 18 events, so it wasn’t like I had to wait til morning for the last ones, which also felt possible

I actually never get points for making threads. So I usually don't bother. I made short thread posts and one time I went ham with a gardening appreciation thread and didn't get squat. So now I just focus on posting. I checked my transaction I get purple spore for thread creation which it shouldn't be, but oh well. It never works out for me. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I just don't care to keep trying when it's not working. I'd rather just post more instead of worrying about why the threads never seem to work.

where are yall seeing what color spores you have? I can only see my general spore count on my inventory page?
If you go to the bell bag icon at the top of the screen, then click “Transactions” in the drop down menu, it shows you each time you’ve earned spores (and bells and whatever else). There are different colors for different activities, purple is viewing threads, red is posting replies, pink is viewing someone’s profile, yellow is voting in a poll, dangerous is making your own new thread.
There’s nowhere to actually look at them and see the color but the name is written out. Makes it easier to quickly look through and see if you’ve gotten the max amount of spores for a certain activity within the current cool down period

Okay now that I go and look I’ve apparently earned more purple spores today? I got all 18 events last night. But now I’m at like 12 events today even tho it hasn’t been 24 hours?? Wonder if they changed the cool down times

Now that I went and looked around it seems to have capped out at 18 again. I wonder if they switched it to every 12 hours instead of 24? Would make sense with when I think I viewed stuff that I got spores for today

I think I can confirm the 12 hour change for purple spores. I think I looked at a couple threads early in the morning and must have gotten the spores then, but didn’t come back on until afternoon when I got the rest. Just now tonight, 12 hours since I would have been on in the morning, I got 2 purple ones but seems maxed out for the moment. I think the rest won’t reset til like 3 AM
