Emoji's sometimes not appearing

So I thought Emoji's aren't allowed anymore because one time it turned to something like this: ��

But when I edit the post, for example this emoji: When I paste this it shows up again.

Is editing the post without going advance related to what's happening?

I think that some emojis simply do not work, while some emojis do.

I once saw someone posting the laughter emoji, that's one of the original. I think it depends on what type of device are you on.

Emojis and perhaps all Unicode characters outside the ASCII range don't work in the "quick reply" box, AKA the one at the bottom of a thread. Only on the "go advanced" page will they work. Just one of those quirks of the website.
