English Review Thread for Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Oh look, Metacritic gained 29 critics, culminating to 87/100 right now. That's plenty of reviews for ya, yet not all will be there.

The lowest score ever given is Destructoid, which is 7/10. And the reviewer is Jim Sterling, so that makes the score a bit surprising.

Also, GameSpot gave the game a 8/10. The flaws were the repetitive dialogs and clumsy user interface.

IGN has posted their video review!!

IGN has finally posted their video review of Animal Crossing New Leaf :)! Check it out on their youtube channel! :)

I've been reading the reviews and it is making me so anxious to get the game. I really liked IGN's review. But the comment section was scary.

I'm tired of reading comment sections for this game. There are a lot of people out there that either take this game at face value and scream their opinion at everyone whether it's valid or not, or just don't care because it's not a game about shooting people. Maybe that's why people like it, though. In this day and age, it's amazing that a game that involves absolutely no violence (other than butterfly net attacks) can be this insanely popular and fun. I guess it just freaks them out, so they feel the need to respond in the only way they know how.

Modojo has a review:

4.5/5

What's Hot:
Traditional Animal Crossing experience mixed with a variety of new features, adorable characters, online connectivity.

What's Not:
Still no NES games from the GameCube version

The "virtual console" was a nice touch, but we have gone a long way since NES. That is a terrible con they put though.

Gaming Nexus just gave 7/10 to ACNL, saying that it "doesn't add a whole lot of 'new' stuff"? He even explicitely stated that he skipped Animal Crossing: Wild World and City Folk. Come on, there were a lot of new things in ACNL. Was he expecting too much from the game? Either way, this just doesn't make any sense, especially he went from the very first American Animal Crossing ever released to ACNL.

This is what he says right off the bat: "Animal Crossing exists in a weird place for me. I played it quite frequently back in the GameCube days, though my girlfriend at the time much more in to it than I was"

Doesn't sound like a big fan of the series to begin with. I didn't even bother reading the rest of the review. I think for it to be an accurate review, the reviewer has to first FULLY enjoy the game.

Also he says this : It's hard to tell when a game like Animal Crossing: New Leaf ends.

Obviously he doesn't get the fact that IT DOESN'T END. lol

How much more content do people want? Do they want to drive cars and live in a city? It won't be Animal Crossing anymore if that's the case.
