I've always been interested in my genetics. As far as I know I'm mostly British/Irish though I think I have some other European genetics in me from my mother's side as while she is irish, I think her ancestors originated in Spain before migrating to the Republic of Ireland.
I'll need to do this at somepoint in my lifetime. It'll be great to know!
no but my parents (especially my dad) has been very interested in finding out stuff about ancestry n w/e so i know some things about the ppl on his side back to like the 18th-19th century and theyre all swedish iirc. on my mother's side from what ive heard theyre all swedish too, like, at least several generations back. so i know my ethnicity v well
im not interested in it rly. dont see why i would care about boring ppl im related to who have been dead for 100 years.
I've never, but my room mates have done 23 and me and it really freaked me out (reasons that toadsworthy mentioned lol). I don't know a lot about my heritage for the most part and strangely I've never talked too deeply about it with my parents. I think part of the reason why my parents don't want to tell me about my ancestors (or even my relatives) is because a lot of them, on both sides, killed themselves and now they're just paranoid.
I'm Korean (mom) Cambodian-Chinese (dad), so I'm probably some part Mongolian and definitely Hokkien, since most Chinese who settled in Cambodia were Hokkien.
So I started making a family tree on the ancestry site and holy cow, I can see how people make so many connections and stuff. So I put in my mom's first and last name, not even her birthday and it brought up a "leaf" which is a hint on there, and it had her birth record (it omitted certain info but said where she was born), a few public records, and even her marriage to my bio-father in Nevada... Super freaking weird! I'm almost tempted to pay the $20 to see how far back it will take me because you have to pay for membership, I didn't think they had that many records of recent stuff, but I guess that's how they connect it all...
I really want to. We don't know anything about my moms side of the family because she was adopted by her "dad" and her mom never told her anything. So I wanna do A DNA test to find out what I am :/
All I know is on my dads side i'm French and Polish, but i'm told I look neither of those soooo
I really want to. My family will vehemently deny any Gypsy heritage, but both my aunt and I have gotten skin conditions mainly seen in Native Americans. When we pointed out that's impossible since our family came over during my aunts generation, doctors just shrugged and said it's the Gypsy in us. I want to see how true it is.
No , apparently a grandfather was from Spain but i have always considered myself 100% mexican.
It would be interesting to see if i see if i have other ethnicity , which i don't think so but eh.
i've had two dna tests done. im adopted and dont know anything about my family history so i had taken a couple tests to see what they said. i had gotten my first test for xmas and i just got the results to my second test last week. screenshots under the spoiler..
this was my first one from AncestryDNA:
this was my second one from My Heritage:
some similarities and lots of differences so im more confused now than i was before..
I've never had any DNA testing done, although I'd be interested in trying it. I already know a bit about my ancestry just through what a few of my family members have told me, and I'm apparently related to gypsies on one side, and some famous members of the illuminati on the other (I'm not naming who, for reasons). Definitely something I'll look into more though, that's for sure.
