Hey there. It's your friendly neighborhood Gengrawwwwwr.

I've been hearing about the whole "EV/IV" pokemon training technique (if you could even call it a technique) for quite some time now...but I never really understood what it meant, or how you'd go about training your pokemon in such a way.

I'm preparing my team for Platinum right now, and I've been breeding pokemon (in Diamond) that I can later trade to Platinum. That's when I also remembered..."natures" of a pokemon seemed to be important to people that EV/IV trained. What's, like...the best "nature"?

If someone could explain the whole thing to me...that'd be cool.

Grawr out.

http://www.smogon.com/ (might need to search around)
http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/normalized_stats <--might help, kinda explain what they do to stats
http://www.smogon.com/dp/natures/ shows what natures add/lower stats
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1570244 good explanation of EVs
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13601 IVs determine what Hidden Power will do (also do things to stats though)
http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/pid_iv_creation more IV stuff
http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/breeding_guide_part4 breeding guide for IVs [the only way to alter IVs is through breeding, and once a pokemon is born/caught it'll have the same IVs forever]

hope they help

the links below are good too

[i think that's everything lol, if you still don't understand something pm me and i can explain/give a link to help ]

It's a lot of reading, start off slow.

For example, don't start IV breeding for a while.
Just make sure you have EVing down,. and then move to the next step.

This.

Because all the websites overcomplicate things.

EV training is more important than IV breeding anyway.

Exactly.
I only IV if I'm extremely bored, because it's extremely boring.

Only time I ever breed is if I want another Eevee.

IMO, legit shinies are better and trading them for EVed pokemon isn't worth it.

chaining isn't hard at all, and i think its worth it

both ways you put in a lot of work

I find EV training boring, but do-able

I find chaining impossible.
