Events & Collectibles General Discussion

Is it just me, or are the new scenery collectibles flat out useless? I haven't seen any TBT user use them yet. (Though if you did, tell me)
I wouldn't say they are useless. I'm going to buy some once I've figured out a line up for the new collectibles. I have seen several members use the scenery collectibles, especially to space out flowers or even just the scenery on its own. Most members have changed their line ups to use Holiday collectibles or the Christmas Lights as they are only available to use until early January.👍

I have seen some people use them. They're just placeholders. I don't think any collectible is completely useless. If at least one member finds use out of them, I think they are worth it.

Well you can blame me for being inactive where the collectible was brand new at the time so I didn't see much active use for them scenery collectibles.

I must admit that if we could combine the sky scenery with balloons, that would be great!

I plan on using them to have 2 lines of 3 collectibles which is like a dream for me because it looks slick and simple. I'm just kinda waiting for there to be new collectibles that the sceneries can be placed behind. As for the snowy scenery, I am waiting to see how many gumdrops I may get first and if there are any surprise relaunch of a collectible that I may want.
As a result of the sceneries being new, I'm starting to sell off many (but not all, as I really like some of my 5 liners that are probably not getting relaunched for a long time) of my collectibles with time because I need newer dates.

I mean on a technical level, they aren't, and I've seen some members utilize them in rather nice ways

on a practical level, personally speaking, when nearly half the 12 days recolors are priority wants for me (ftr, this includes yet to be revealed ones as well), I ain't spending bells on that ****, I'm sorry

fr though, I do love the idea behind them. but for right now, a combination of cost (especially when getting multiples)+other (expensive) wants+a lack of reordering availability makes me kinda just ignore them as a neat but not convincing enough idea to invest in

maybe if the sellback was 100%, but idk. even then, I'm still not entirely on board without having a critical mass of tbt to just splurge on and pray for future reordering options

still, I do think it's a nice start, and I'm if nothing else hype to see clean collectible backgrounds. especially to make fan creations easier to do

The day has come. We now have star fragments based on all four teams from last Camp TBT.

The Galaxolotls and International Space Cetacean may have won their wishing events, but we managed to get the other two star fragments, thanks to our carnival dust collecting and holiday scavenger hunt.

Fun fact: All six TBT Fairs that were held since the release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf had something that contributed to TBT’s legacy.
  • The 2013 TBT Fair started it all. It may be very primitive in comparison to the other TBT Fairs and both Camp TBT events, but it had the framework that all future fairs followed.
  • The 2014 TBT Fair celebrated TBT’s 10th anniversary and introduced animated collectibles as staff favorite prizes. Let’s also not forget that the bottle guessing event started there.
  • The 2016 TBT Fair may not been as memorable, but it was the event that introduced the highly coveted glow wand collectibles. It was also where the line-art coloring event was introduced.
  • The 2017 TBT Fair had the most interesting theme surrounding the fair, which was the retro theme/80’s theme. It also had the most memorable mirrors out of all mirror events TBT had. Long live Kracko!
  • The 2020 TBT Fair had the most participants out of all TBT Fairs. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s where both the star fragment collectibles and plush collectibles made their debut.
  • The 2022 TBT Fair introduced the dust-collecting event to the forum.

ok, but the 2013 fair wasn't the start. that was the 2004 fair

citation:
Hey, if we're counting staff it must have been at least 25!

There was actually one the year before that, in 2004. However, it wasn't really the Fair as we know it now where you earn tickets (points in 2005) from various events. It was more of a casual promotional thing for the start of the forum. Then in 2005 we held the event for our one year birthday. When we brought the Fair back in 2013 and 2014 it was still for the site's birthday (9th and 10th) in the winter, but in 2016 we decided to make it a summer event.

Some of the contests are now closing. Voting time should be coming.

Now if you want to know why your resident apple will never make it to the finalist voting (despite wanting a trophy collectible), it’s because I’m not that artistic enough. I try my best, but I’m not really much of an artist. Even the ones that involve playing Animal Crossing are hard to get into the finals, especially with how designing has changed. I work up to my maximum potential, and even I think my works is towards the bottom half. I think the only shot I have in winning any contest at this point, or at least making it to the nominations, is the egg decorating contests. I would make a better technician (moderators and project staff) than a performer. So if the staff ever have an official cake decorating contest, I would like to be the host.

I wouldn’t expect my entries to make it to the voting round this year. My expectations were a lot higher in 2016 and 2017, but not anymore.

we still have the white elephant and board game contests open until the end of the year. let's not act like everything's ending in under 24 hours over here
I wish I had checked that, because I definitely thought everything ended tonight. Whomp.

Normally, I try hard to win a contest. But this time, I’m participating just for the credits, so I can obtain collectibles solely for resale.

Does anyone know what dates/years of Lily of the Valleys are in circulation? 🌸
