Like for example... watching Shrek 2 instead of Shrek?
I've done it a few times, especially with Marvel movies in the mcu. Only time I really regret doing it was with Captain America: Civil War only because it was so linked with the past movies I have not watched.
Kinda, like the marvel movies I watched Avengers and Infinity War in order but I did skip some other movies like Antman and the Wasp so while I kinda knew the gist of it I had no idea what that character was lol.
I accidentally skipped the second hobbit movie and went straight to the third because I thought I had already watched it. I'm sure there's some others I also skipped but not on purpose, just cause it was on TV and so I watched it.
Usually for remakes though, I've already seen the original and don't watch the remake unless there's really good reviews cause I'm one of those old farts that doesn't want the original ruined XD
Yes, a few times. Sometimes I watch a movie that's recommend to me and after I get through watching it, I look it up, if I really liked it, only to find out it had prequel/s to it. When I go and watch them, in some rare cases, they're far worse than their following film.
I like movies that are self-containted and can do well on their own. I tend to dislike when movies add cliff hanger$ at the end, as sometimes, it leads to nowhere or the sequel is so bad you'd rather not associate it with the original.
The first time I've done this was with the Indiana Jones series as a young child. I watched "The Temple of Doom" before watching the first one which is "Raiders of the Lost Ark". I've committed another offense by watching Avengers: Endgame before all the other movies in the series.
I know given my love for space this may sound ridiculous, but I've never seen the original trilogy for Star Wars, and I've only seen the first one of the prequels.
No, I never do this. I either watch all the movies in a series or don’t watch them at all. Case in point, I wanted to watch all the Alien movies and my dad happened to have the whole set of them together, so we were able to watch them all (and I’ve even seen the more recent ones related to it like Prometheus and Alien: Covenant in theaters).
I have with batman and movies like that Bcuz there’s so many of them and I’m not about to spend 12 hours watching them all in sequence cause I don’t have the attention span for that
I try to avoid this as much as I can. I know of at least one instance though; when I was a kid I went with my best friend, his brother, and his brother's friend to go see the third Lord of the Rings movie. I had never seen the first two Lord of the Rings movies and to this day am not all that interested in the series or anything in the Tolkien sphere, but it was an excuse to hang out so I figured why not? There are probably other times where I've done it, but none come to mind at the moment. But yeah, I generally prefer to watch an entire series in order.
Yeah, I've done this a few times. My mom kinda got sick for a little bit and so we missed watching Captain Marvel in theaters and then my family and I watched Avengers End Game. We were kinda confused about when Captain Marvel came in, but eventually we saw the movie when it came out on dvd afterwards. I believe I did this a couple more times, but don't remember the movies. XD
Almost never. If it's a movie I want to see, then I will always watch any prior movies in the series first. The only times I've ever watched a sequel by itself was if I was with someone who wanted to watch it and I didn't really care. But even that is rare. The only examples I can think of are watching Alien Resurrection with my boyfriend at the time and watching some of the recent MCU movies with my husband. There's no way I was going to try to keep up with all the MCU movies. I just watched the ones my husband wanted to see in the theater.
yeah i did once, watched the 2nd film of 'easy money' series cause my mom me to go along? it was alright ig but yeah should probably have read or watched the first book/film i think lol
