I have only one rule: no anime. I'm talking about western animation only, it can be rated r or rated pg 13. Disney or non Disney. Which is your favorite?

I recently came across a movie called Rock and Rule from the 80's. It's pretty cheesy, but pretty fun to watch. I'd definitely suggest it to anyone here.

Tangled. It means a lot to me in a personal sense.

It did for me, too. I can't say that it's my absolute favorite, but I CAN say it's in my top ten. Now that I think about it, Reck it Ralph is very important to me, too. I heard a sequel to it is in the works.

Heavy Metal. You're all probably too young to know that one.

Edit: Oh nm~ looks like a few of you know this movie! And are possibly around my age xD

Oh! I'm so glad you brought this up! It's not my favorite, but a solid number 4 on my list. Yes, I do like heavy metal. Have you ever seen the movie Wizards? It came out around the same time. It wasn't as....trippy as Heavy Metal, but had some very metaphorical meanings in it. It's very good, I think it's on youtube if you want to watch it.

I adored Monsters Inc.!!! How To Train Your Dragon! I didn't expect to enjoy Ratatouille as much as I did
LOVED all the silly Minions and I Love just about anything Pixar Studios does ... I love the art work ... It would be my dream job!

Sorry ... It was impossible to pick just one! ❤️ This is a very cool thread topic!!

Hunchback of Notre Dame <3

Or Treasure Planet, love me some sci-fi xD

Woot! Awesome.~ Thank you for the recommendation. I'll find it and watch it. :)

Sorry, but Revival of Evangelion is basically leagues better than every western production ever made period.

That's fine. I did very much so enjoy the revival of Evangelion. I honestly hadn't watched it before, so it was thrilling both to see a cornerstone of the anime world, and to get engrossed in a good story. I'm glad you like it. A lot of western animation is afraid to go to the places that eastern animation has gone. That being said...I only put the no anime rule because I'm looking for opinions on western animation only. But thank you for sharing. :)

Yay! The animation is not top notch, I'll admit. It's got some /very/ early rotoscope in it. But the metaphor is deep and because of that, it's very interesting as an art piece. The same animator that did wizards also did the animated hobbit and lord of the rings series.

Hunchback is actually my favorite disney movie. Notre Dam in flames still gives me shivers.

And Jim Hawkins was one of my first crushes when I was a teenager, I'll admit. And I love treasure island, so seeing that story in a sci fi setting really made me happy.

The Last Unicorn. Hey Good Lookin' is a favorite too. I really like Ralph Bakshi's work.

Those two are underappreciated.

Oh heck, there's a lot! I don't really think I have a #1 favorite. Though, Finding Dory wins my heart this year.

I haven't seen it yet. Is it weird that I wasn't all that interested? Same with inside out. Pixar has never failed me, I guess I'm just not into animation lately, (which is part of the reason I made this thread). By lately, I mean the last two years or so

I steered clear of watching "kids movies" for years as the children loved telling me about them, and did so in a way no movie could ever top. The spontaneous re-inactment of Kung-Fu Panda by a group of 4 year olds is one of my favourite memories!

My partner and I started watching them gradually and a lot of our favourite movies are animated. I adore anything with the Minions in it - so "minion" was one of my nephew's first 2 syllable words (said "mi-nun", just adorable!!!). How to Train Your Dragon, it's sequel, and the various tv series made are all on heavy rotation around here. Tangled is good, though I prefer The Princess and the Frog as the story is much more developed. Kung Fu Panda and sequel, and shorts. I love Inside Out as an educator as it just has so many things I can work with to help children understand those complex feelings that are so hard to explain and really nut out. It's a good movie, though short of depth in the story and characters, outside of their heads. Hotel Transylvania and sequel are also amazing, very well done (and the only movie I've ever seen that had Adam Sandler in it).

But my hands down favourite is The Lego Movie! Everything is awesome! Just so damned clever. It's so well written that knowing the narrative structure and guessing the plot points doesn't hinder enjoyment of the actual story. It's predictable but in that rare way that turns that predictability into part of the whole *point* of the movie... and there's lego Batman. Who is awesome, though his music is not.
