What were your favorite book series to read when you were a child?

I read a lot of books as a child, and some of my favorite series were Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Goosebumps, The Boxcar Children, Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, Redwall, Nancy Drew, Little House on the Prairie, Magic Attic Club, Animorphs, Thoroughbred, Pony Pals, American Girl, Hank the Cowdog, The Chronicles of Narnia, Shiloh, The Baby-Sitters Club, and so on. I'm sure I forgot some, but those are all I can remember right now.

And when I was a bit younger, for picture books, a few series I liked were Arthur, The Magic School Bus, and Clifford. For nonfiction, I liked the Eyewitness books.

oooh I think malory towers would probably have to top the list? since I managed to read those twice through and i almost never re-read books, especially not nowadays. i also loved the 'adventure' series by enid blyton, and percy jackson when i got a tiny bit older. those are the immediate ones that come to mind but i'm sure there's a lot more.. i also loved the mortal instruments series by cassandra clare but i read those around 12/13 and it lead me into a lot of other book series i arguably should've read when i was a bit older lol

i liked reading junie b jones, magic tree house, arthur, harry potter, and cam jansen books! my first grade teacher gifted me a junie b jones book which made me start reading the series, and i ended up buying the whole set from those book catalogs in elementary school a few years later :)

I used to read Cam Jansen and then when I was older, Nancy Drew.
It's hard to get myself to read now and I have forgotten most of the details about these books.

The Rainbow Magic books!! My first friend group in elementary school got me into them. I remember ordering almost every book in the series that was available at the time from the school book fair catalog, and having to carry like 2-3 tall stacks of them to my backpack when they arrived LOL. My friends and I would often roleplay as Rainbow Magic fairies during recess. 🥹

I thought all of the fairies and their designs were so cool; I loved that there was a fairy for almost every possible thing you could think of! I considered Daisy Meadows my favourite author for a couple of years, and was so shook when I found out she didn't actually exist. I had every book that had been published up to when I lost interest - my collection took up almost my entire bookcase. I donated the majority of my books years ago, and the writing was pretty mediocre looking back, but it's still an incredibly special series to me, and I still think the fairies are cool. I actually still have Lara the Black Cat Fairy!

I also loved The Sisters Eight (I still have the entire series!), Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Cinderella Cleaners, Dork Diaries, Geronimo Stilton, and a couple of other series I've forgotten the names of!

  • Love
Reactions: Doo
  • Mr Putter and Tabby - used to check these out at the school library all the time!
  • The Puppy Place - I had nearly the whole collection! Just learned they made a TV series of it, how cool is that?
  • Magic Puppy/Magic Kitten - series about a wolf that could turn into a puppy and a lion (iirc) that could turn into a kitten, and each iteration would visit a different girl and help her out. I think they all took place in the UK and the puppy series had hidden messages in some of the images relating to the lore which was cool.
  • Fashion Kitty - a graphic novel series I adored about a kitty fashion superhero! The characters really resembled my imaginary friends at the time!
  • Just Grace: I think my mom found this series and got the first book for me. It's by the same author as the Fashion Kitty series, with really engaging illustrations with captions and comics and such!
  • Dear Dumb Diary: My mom discovered this one as well! It had a lot of hilarious moments in it, especially with all the illustrations XD I found the parts about Isabella really relatable because she was a lot like my friend at the time in some ways XD Shame the movie was bad.

I was a fan of the Harry Potter book series, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Pony Pals. There was also a book series about a girl and her genie or something, though I can't remember what that was called.

When I was smaller, a lot of my picture books were Little Golden Books and Disney books. Not a series, but I really loved Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.

I did a Series of Unfortunate Events marathon when I was in the fifth grade. All I did that year was go through all of the 13 books over the course of several months (I am a pretty slow reader). They were well below my reading level difficulty wise, but Lemony Snicket’s writing style was charming and I was invested with the characters.

I was also obsessed with the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I read them over and over again, even the bad ones. I also read all of the knock off series like Middle School, Dork Diaries, and Big Nate.

From what I can remember A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, Pony Pals (lol), Dr. Suess, and the Magic Treehouse.

Oh man, I’m gonna age myself here. My favorites were the Beatrix Potter books, Chronicles of Narnia, original American Girl Doll sets, maybe some more that I forget.

It's hard to recall all the book series I read as a kid, but I know for sure my top two favorite series were Guardians of Ga'Hoole and A Series of Unfortunate Events! I also read Harry Potter and enjoyed it at that time, and I remember reading and enjoying Inkheart as well even if I don't think I finished the trilogy, lol.

Definitely Goosebumps. My first exposure to the series was reading it on our school library when I was a kid. It was also the first horror series I've ever read. The very first book I've read was "Danger Time".

Wow it's been so long, lol. I read a lot of books, but for series, I think my favorite were the chronicles of Narnia. I also read the Tolkien books, but narnia was just so magical. I still read those today once in a while.

I loved anything by Beverly Cleary, too. The ramona and beezus, henry and ribsy books.

I also remember getting to 6th/7th grade and checking out Stephen King books from the public library. 😂 I read a lot of those and scared myself. I remember Salem's Lot being super scary.

There was another publisher of scary books i used to read, but i can't remember the titles, just how scary they were. 😂

Oh- and another super awesome series of books - the Myth Inc. books. I still have some of those, they were always a pretty fun read.
