Final Fantasy X/X-2 and FFXII

All this Tidus hate makes me sad. He had plenty of reason for his personality and he gets unfair judgement for not being a completely stoic type, or the type that's all goofy. I'm surprised anyone who hates Tidus can even enjoy XII, considering Tidus haters usually hate Vaan as well. Then again, I guess you could just take Vaan out of your party whereas you can't with Tidus. Ehh.

In any case to me X is a masterpiece in my opinion. It's such a good addition to the final fantasy series and is second to being a PERFECT Final Fantasy to IX! IX will just always be special and perfect to me, no matter what haha.

X-2 gets a lot more praise than it deserves in my opinion, it's pretty much all fanservice and a silly plot which can sometimes seem jarring to it's counterpart. I still personally like the game a lot but it's definitely not worth TOO much praise.

XII is such a good game, whether playing the original or the remake, it's a really good addition and I have loved the world of Ivalice so it's an amazing addition to it all. Plus the characters and the plot can pretty much keep you addicted in seeing what's going to happen next.

All three of these games share a similar positive too, their soundtracks are SO good.

I have to say, I agree a lot with Tao's post!

If I were getting a Switch, I'd personally prefer to keep playing on the PS4 with the FF games. Then again, that's the nostalgia fangirl in me I guess. I'm happy that they're porting it for more people to play but I wouldn't rebuy personally. Though if I had to recommend to you, I'd say get XII because it's underappreciated compared to the others.

XII had sidequests, whereas X is a lot more straightforward. You'd get more bang for your buck in my opinion with XII.

I don't find Tidus to be whiny, so I've never gotten the hate for him myself. The HA HA HA scene is awkward, but it's supposed to be. Tidus is trying to cheer Yuna up and is intentionally being weird to try to do it.

I hated him at the start, but I'm pretty sure you were supposed to, that he was supposed to be unlikable. I've never actually regarded him as a bad character though, especially not protagonist. Where a few FF protagonists feel like they're not much different at the end of the game than they were at the start, he has an actual obvious character arc being a massively different character at the end of the game.

But he's not edgy, cool and wearing black leather, so he's definitely lame.

Personally I can't say I've ever heard much praise for X-2 outside of the battle system.

The battle system was the only thing I genuinely liked about X-2. It's a fun, fanservicey game...but is by no means a GOOD game.

Tidus gets a lot less irritating as X progresses, but man, those early hours grated on my nerves, lol.

I'm really glad that you can switch jobs in this version of FFXII Zodiac Age. Some of the job combos i picked initially wasn't very good. Heck, even some of the changes I've made since aren't really perfect either. At first I didn't like the idea of having jobs in the game. But being able to mix and match two different jobs at pretty much any time is a great change and doesn't feel as limiting as I first thought it would.

Anyways, I just finished the main story and now I'm going in for the side stuff. And there's a lot of it. Getting the Tournesol is next on my list. I got it on the original release 10+ years ago and it was a real pain to gather all the loot for it. So worth it though.

I've definitely been enjoying XII a lot more now that they added the license reset option. And I'm definitely all for the NG+. I'm glad that's been becoming the norm for JRPGs now.

Lulu has a strength sphere in her grid blocked by a L2 Key thing, I figured I shouldn’t waste it on her so I just paused there, refusing to move until I came up with a decision... should I just ignore it and keep going?

Also I have one fortune sphere and came across my first luck sphere (Wakka’s grid) should I waste it on him?
