Sorry if this has come up before,

If you already have a new resident moving in, ie. There's a sold sign on the plot, does that mean you won't find any new villagers on mystery islands?

And are there any other reasons why you wouldn't find a new villager on a mystery island?

Thanks!

I got my 6th villager in my tent today, set up their plot and invited them. I then place another plot and invited an island villager, but I believe the island villager is one time a day after that. Once you invite one, they won't show for the day.

I haven't invited any new villagers from an island today, or recently. The one moving in is a random villager. My best guess is when one is moving in you can't invite another from an island and one just won't show. It's worth knowing for future. So I don't waste any more Nook miles tickets.

My camper moves in tomorrow.. Will animals start showing up on islands again? Or do I have to build a plot first? I assumed it would be like the first three recruits and you can invite them THEN build the plot... that way you can control what animals you get a little more without fear of a random moving in..

To answer some of the questions above, let me share my experience first.

My camper also moves in tomorrow, so I set up a new plot. I went to the islands and saw villagers again. After 5 tickets, I finally invited Axel. I checked the new plot and it was sold to Axel.

I bought and set up another plot then went to the islands. There's not a single villager. I'm guessing the island villagers are once a day. So yeah, I can confirm Slothie's post above. I don't wanna waster tickets so I'll try again tomorrow.

tldr; Set up plots first before inviting villagers. You can only invite islanders once a day.

Except, like I said, I did both today. I set up 2 plots. You can put as many as you want and they'll sell overnight if not claimed by amiibo / island villagers. Then they'll move in at 1 a day.

Plot 6 - Mystery camper

Plot 7 - Island Villager - Megan

Island Villager - Can be found once a day. Must already have an empty plot. After one is invited, no more islanders will spawn until the next day.

Amiibo - 1 every 3 Days

You can either:

1. Build a plot and a random villager will buy it at rollover
2. Wait for a campsite villager you like, build a plot, then invite them.
3. Build a plot then search islands until you find a villager you like. If you do not find one by 6am, a random villager will move in.
4. Use amiibo card move in method. Takes 3 days though

So you don't need to set up a plot for the camper first and then wait one more day to start inviting island villagers?

You have to set up a plot for your 6th villager because it is mandatory. You HAVE to invite that smug camper before island villagers appear.

My post might be a little confusing. That plot that Axel took was the 7th.

My question is can I invite both the camper and the potential island villager on the same day?
Or does the camper have to move in first, then only the next day I buy a plot for a potential island villager and invite them?
Sorry for the questions I just really want to know since I saved up quite a few Nook Miles tickets and wouldn't want to waste them going on tours without potential villagers spawning.

I think I get it. So.. tomorrow (6th villager moves in) I should be able to build a plot and start searching for potential villagers, but if I don’t find one, I need to use an amiibo card or a random will come in.

Yes. You can invite the camper AND the island villager on the same day.
After I invited Curlos (camper), I went and invited Axel after 5 islands.

Note that after inviting the islander, save your tickets and don't post any more plots until tomorrow.

Wait, if you build the 7th plot, go out searching, and come up empty handed.... then use an amiibo... won’t a random animal still move into that plot since the amiibo ones take three days?

Yes. I've read that if you set up a plot and haven't invited anyone before 6AM tomorrow, a random villager will move in. So don't set it up until after your Amiibo villager is ready to move in.

So my understanding is this -
I'll invite my camper and build a plot for him.
Then do I need to buy an additional plot to get the Island villagers to appear or can I go on tours without a plot for them first?
Hope the question is not too confusing.

It’s a catch-22. You can’t encounter island villagers without a plot.
You can’t use an amiibo villager WITH a plot (because a random will move in).

At least that’s how I’m reading it....

So if you have the amiibo, use it and don’t post the plot until the third day. It’s really the only guaranteed way to get one you want.

I don't want to use amiibos just yet as I'd like to encounter different villagers that I might not have had yet.
So then without a plot they won't spawn?
So I need 2 plots today - one for the camper and one for the island villager?

Yes. One plot for the camper and one plot for the island villager.

I didn't check this thread for a little while, just noticed all your replies. Thank you so much for this advice and information!
