Whenever I get Chinese takeout, specifically "Chicken and Mixed Vegetables," I remember the condo I used to live in. My family was a day away from moving to a new home and we had already packed all of the furniture so we ate our meal on top of cardboard boxes in the kitchen area. It was our last "big" meal before we left the condo!

Do you have foods that remind you of specific memories?

I'm in Canada and we have ketchup flavoured potato chips and ketchup powder that you can put on popcorn. The first time I went to the cinema with an American friend and she saw me pour bright red ketchup powder all over my popcorn she honestly looked like she wanted to die. It was so funny how weird and gross she thought it was. So, ketchup powder reminds me of her.

This brand of corned beef reminds me of when I was a kid visiting my grandmother's house. She always had a stockpile of this stuff and would make hash or something else with it.It came in this weird rectangular can that tapered off a bit at the top and you had to use the key(seen stuck to the side of the can)to open it.There was a "starter"strip of metal sticking out of the can which fit into the hole in the key and you'd twist the metal strip all the way around which would cause the bottom of the can to fall away revealing the congealed mass of processed beef within.Man,that's a lot of work.

My memere used to always have strawberry Fig Newtons. When I have them, I think of her old house, and the cabinet where she stored them in the kitchen. It brings me back to when she and my pepere would babysit me; my pepere asleep on his lounge chair, my memere and me on the couch watching tv with Fig Newtons.

No, food doesn’t usually remind me of memories I’ve had. Other things do... but not food.

These Spongebob push pops remind me of the good ol' year 2009 when we had them all summer long. Same with dibs and
krabby patty gummies, loved them to pieces when I was little.
I want to eat them again ;v; they were soo good

Aw thats such a nice memory! I'm not sure I have connections to foods like that; I don't really remember what food I was eating when special events in my life happened. I think smells are more memorable to me than taste.

The only thing that comes to mind is these sour fruit gummies Florida's Natural use to make, specifically the orange flavored ones. I ate them lot in elementary school as after school snacks, and I think the only reason I remember them is because they got discontinued rather than a specific event that happened when I was eating them.

Sometimes when I eat certain foods when I watch a movie or tv show, it makes me remember it when I eat it again, but other than that, not very many memories of anything else, but I guess if I do have to say one food reminds me of something, it would be macaroni n' cheese. My old best friend and I used to eat that all the time when we were younger. I remember her mom making it for us.

Push Pops (specifically the Fintstones ones) remind me of being a kid and walking to the gas station down the street. For anyone who doesn't know, it was basically orange sherbet in a cylinder that you pushed up to eat. Also the character shaped ice creams, you could only find them in ice cream trucks or places we would vacation to. I only remember getting the Sonic and Bubbles ones.

Lukken. Or as people in the US like to call them, "Belgian waffle cookies". My great grandma used to make them, and anytime I have them around Christmas time, I remember a certain time when my great grandma was making some Lukken at my grandmas house. Either my mom or aunt still has the iron press that makes those cookies.

This specific flavor of paleta reminds me of my childhood, when I was still being taken care of by my grandma. My grandma and cousins use to live on this busy intersection, the area had a big Mexican population, so there were a lot of paleteros walking by, ringing their bells and pushing their ice cream cart. I remember specifically a time where my cousins and I would beg the adults for a dollar to buy a paleta, and I would always choose this bubblegum flavor because it also had a frozen gumball in one of the corners. We would then take our ice cream and bother the poor shop owners nearby, ending up in the karate dojo right next door, watching as the students do their thing. We were nosy brats, but it's a fond memory. Haven't had this flavor in years though.

I only have 1 food that stirs up a memory and I can't eat them anymore. I had food poisoning once and it was caused by fish but after the meal I had them little diddy doughnuts you can buy so they came up aswell. I've managed to eat the fish since but the diddy doughnuts just make me heave now

It's kind of rare for food to spark any memories in me. I usually just eat and not put much thought into it other than "it tastes good/bad". What usually triggers memories the most for me is smell and sound. The sound of rain falling on leaves or the soil when it rains, for example, triggers memories of when I used to walk back home from school enjoying the sounds of nature or I would read a book inside. It's probably why I like rainy weathers. 😊 Same thing if I hear music I used to listen to.

these! my mom used to buy them occasionally when i was younger and while they don’t really trigger any specific memories, i was always so excited whenever she’d bring these home and i’d get crumbs and sprinkles everywhere aha. also one year, when she brought home the halloween ones, i ate a few of them before having to leave for girl scouts and well,, the frosting stained my hands lmao. it took a bit for my mom to get me cleaned up while i just stood there the entire time like “🍪👄🍪” smh
