Forum Games

some/most of the forums games do end up being spam-wars, and don't add anything other than fun to the forum (for those who enjoy them), but to make a blanket statement like that misses the games that (when played correctly, not just nook-spam) can effectively bring the forum together, if not only to learn more things about one another and to help those who are more shy to get used to the mechanics of posting.

effecting TBT"s image is hardly a valid point IMO, simply because it's an animal crossing/video game general forum. if it was a more serious board, i could understand it being cut, but this isn't as serious of a forum as it would be without the forum games.

a more active moderation team would be a handy check against dozens of the same topic and whatnot, but to just cut the entire section out because it's bad for our rep makes keeping all of our old threads/posts pointless, since it wouldn't be the same TBT it was before the move. (which i'm assuming is part of the reason why all the info has been so hard to detach from)

it would be hard to keep all the old forum games threads and shove them into off-topic/brewster's new incarnate without having the forum games simply popping up in there. mods could always close/lock/delete them, but what does it really hurt to have them in the first place, other than making the bell tree a serious forum for a totally non-serious game?
I don't think you can honestly say that any of the forum games threads have "effectively [brought] the forum together". A quick perusal of the most popular threads shows nothing but uninspired reply after uninspired reply, the vast majority of which seem to contain under ten words.

TBT is kept afloat by its general video game and off-topic sections during the dry spells between Animal Crossing game releases. I'll admit that Animal Crossing attracts a generally less mature/younger audience, but I think we can safely say that TBT has gone so long because it has been run by generally more temperate and mature leaders. I feel like TBT is moving away from the admitted childishness of AC, especially with this vB move.

Forum games would not be the only forum that's cut, though. The AC category is getting shook up, and I doubt that the retired boards will be viewable anymore. A more active moderation team would not be a bad thing, but I doubt that it would be a good use of their time to be policing any potential forum games board.

It seems like you're manufacturing a problem here. How do you know that the forum games will be "shove[d]" into Brewster's? How do you know it would be difficult to do this? Also, the word "serious" is your word. I said it would make the forum look more professional and organized and that the forum games contribute, in reality, nothing.

if it was a more serious board, i could understand it being cut, but this isn't as serious of a forum as it would be without the forum games.
I think this sentence is somewhat redundant, if not tautological.

yes, i can honestly say that some of them can bring the forum together if played correctly.

looking just over the most recent games there, games similar to Hit or Miss can help posters learn what other people also enjoy quickly and easily. that alone can help friendships, not to mention help them to overcome general shyness. rate the avatar/sig above you had it's ups and downs, but it's about the only purpose of having a sig/avatar on a forum, other than your own personal satisfaction.
again, uninspired replies that don't take any thought are not what would save the forum games board. what would save is those who do choose to partake in the games in a lively, thoughtful manner. there has been plenty of fun, interesting posts that have come and gone in those games, but spammers kill the fun in those topics by not personalizing their replies, which is the point of the game.

I don't mean to bash the staff, and i have less experience here than pretty much every "regular", but from what i've seen the staff have only been active when necessary. examples being trolls, spambots, and locking/deleting topics. if you're saying that more mature members are the leaders, then sure, that's fine. who exactly are you targeting? i'm sure that most every "temperate and mature leader" has posted in forum games at some point in time. it's trivial, sure, but the fact that even they have used it at some point affirms that it is something everyone can and does enjoy, if not only at one point in their stay.
I would argue against TBT moving away from the childishness of AC, but instead say that it is moving away from what made the community come together to begin with. animal crossing is a game that has its flaws, and can become very stale and childish very quickly, but an animal crossing forum should be about animal crossing mainly. if not, then what is the point of calling it an animal crossing forum, other than to gain the attendance of animal crossing players for ad revenue? if you're saying that they're trying to make it into a more mature animal crossing, then again please look over the new boards and consolidation of the animal crossing section. these forums were admittedly not used in this forum's later months, but they were a draw for some people (such as myself) and are still

@ last sentence
if it were a more serious board, i could understand it being cut. this is not a serious forum, and forum games would help to keep it that way.

&posting this now because i wrote it a while ago and am too lazy to defend
you win, lol.

i still think it should be included in the new TBT.

I don't use the forum games and don't care for them, but I know members will rage if it gets taken away. I didn't vote Yay though. If there was a choice saying Sure, let's keep them, them I'd vote that, but no, not Yay.

I don't see much of a difference =S

I think you're describing what you want forum games to be like, not what they are actually like. Brewster's Caf
