Anyways as established, there are no PR's so claiming is unnecessary in any situation.

Regarding the current phase, I don't think we will have anything to work with unless someone makes a big oopsie during day 1. The only solid information we can get in this game is role alignment from kills. There's only a 20% chance we can vote off a mafia member during day 1 and those odds will increase through each phase.

i'm confused by this. the goal of mountainous is deduction, so we're meant to have conversations w/ each other to go back and reference later on. there are no hammers in this game bc there will be no confirmed town. kills may not mean anything bc they can easily be strategic to frame certain people that maf wants gone. 80% chance of hitting town and 20% chance of hitting maf is high risk/high reward. d1 kill should be based on some deduction instead of straight rng. google rng spit out 14 for me twice in a row. should we nuke epona bc of that? imo no. also, keep in mind that flavor is useless this game bc geoni mentioned in the discord that maf has fakeclaims to use

ultimately i think the person up for elim today should be someone sticking out like a sore thumb and won't be trusted as town later in the game. town needs some level of trust between us to win.

i don't want to fully express what i'm thinking until everyone's had a change to post

First of all, I'll start off the game off with 5 questions. These aid as starting points with for the conversation, and to familiarise players with each other. Answering them is not compulsory, but it is a helpful action.



Now, secondly, I just want a quick foreword that from what I've seen of the last game on a skim, there was entirely too much insignificant banter especially during day 1.
Now, I'm not saying that discussion that isn't entirely game related should be axed entirely, but town's motivation tends to correlate with the ease of reading the thread, and if it's clogged down with erroneous chatter it becomes much more of a slog to comb through.
So all I'm asking is to limit one-word posts/responses and to try to avoid posting individual reads in an isolated fashion. (Try to bulk multiple reads together.)
Obviously, if this would put you outside your comfort zone, it isn't necessary. It is however helpful for town, so if you can manage it, I would recommend it.


And finally, if you are town, I would strongly recommend avoiding claiming a blue role/power role when you are a VT/Green role.
In fact, try to avoid claiming entirely with the sole exception of when you're at risk of being lynched.
In the last game, mafia fished the watcher out with minimal recompense - if we make it clear behaviour like this isn't acceptable as town, then if mafia want to pull it then they'd wind up facing consequences.

for the first point about the insignificant banter, i disagree
yeah if the thread gets really clogged it can be a total pain to iso and my reads tend to take a nosedive as a result, but without that light discussion especially on d1 the game gets really stagnant and doesn't take off
i just filter out anything that i don't think is noteworthy, i.e. all the karen jokes on page 2, but i don't necessarily think the gamestate is better off without them i just don't reply to them

That's true and I agree with everything you just said but when the conversation is just ppl meming, it's hard to provide proper deductions on everyone. Hence, my post. I was hoping my post might start some sort of discussion.

I played a couple games back in 2017, but this is my first time playing forum mafia for quite a while.

I haven’t had a ton of experience but I enjoy being town or other town-aligned blue roles! Although it’s stressful to be unable to trust fellow players, it’s tons of fun. (I’ve never randed mafia before)
Which player in this game are you most familiar with?
I’ve only played with a couple of the people in this game in the past. Most everyone will be totally new to me this time.

I think Karentonio is trying to be helpful, and I like that Karenpona and Karerious are giving another point of view, I'm lacking the memes from Karenguava but that is, NAI, I want to trust Karencake and Endless Karen, for their early efforts at 5 am.

bell tree mafia discord w kat and dan as mods. said it plain as day in the discussion channel. i don't think it's relevant regardless to discuss the validity of it/where it was said. could easily be a way for you as maf to say u had no idea that safeclaims were provided "therefore i can't be mafia!!1" not guaranteed, but definitely a possibility. i personally don't wanna see it discussed again bc people can feign ignorance as maf. flavor is useless to deduce roles in this game
