Any tips? I still have my first island on my main switch, but I've gotten so bored of it. However, I don't wanna get rid of it.

I'm waiting for the dark blue Switch Lite to come out later this month.

I can connect my accounts so they're "together" right? I just wanna make sure. I heard I can absolutely but I obviously haven't tried myself.

Any tips for a seasoned player starting a new island?!

Well I have ask a question. Do you have a digital copy or a physical copy? Here's what you need to know:

1. You still keep your old island on your main switch while on the 2nd switch since there is no save data you can make a 2nd island.

2. You can visit your island's dream address from your 2nd switch to get a better idea of how people see your dream island.

3. If you have a digital copy you can redownload the game on the 2nd switch as long its from your main account that owns the copy of the game and play it.

4. Your main island doesn't get deleted from your 1st Switch it stays where it its at because it has a save data on it when you redownload the game on the 2nd switch

5. You cannot play the same game together using only 1 account. You must have a different account and different user to play together

6. Game Sharing is limited because you have to deregister your main switch in order to play the game on the 2nd switch if you have a digital copy.

7. If you wanted to play online with yourself you need to have a 2nd account with another online membership in order to play online. You cannot play local if digital. You must have 2 online accounts, 2 copies of the game, and obviously 2 switches for local play to work.

8. You're unable to transfer your Residents from your old island to the new island because if you have a digital copy and the 2nd user doesn't own it it blocks the transfer process.

To clarify I have a digital copy so this whole thing took me hours to figure out and setup. Basically you must deregister your main switch and then sign in onto the 2nd switch and make sure its your primary console. Since the 2nd Switch has no data on it you redownload the game since you bought the game and you own it so you can do that. Now here comes the tricky part. You cannot play the game at the same time with 2 switches. You need to create a 2nd user and a 2nd account just to make that person play the digital copy they do not own. The way this works is that your 2nd Switch must be your primary console and the main one must be deregistered. Then when you do that have the 2nd user go onto the main Switch that is deregistered and then your main user can still access the game on the 2nd Switch.

If you have 2 accounts, 2 Switches and 2 copies of the game you can absolutely play local. I do this every day. I literally just did this to transfer Raymond to my second island. Both copies are digital. It absolutely works.

Well for me I wasn't able to do it local, because I didn't have the 2nd digital copy on the other switch. I had to create a new user, link the account, use a 7 day free trial for online, and then use online play. Thats how I got it to work. My main user owns the game, but the other user on the 2nd switch doesn't but with online play I was still able to visit myself. This is the error message I got when trying to play local.

I got a second island with a second physical game and it works great, the only thing I can't do is have both connected to wifi at once. So cant have one island open to visitors, while going and visiting someone with my other island character. So when I do open up my second island I usually set my original switch to airplane mode if I am gonna play it while the second island has the airport open. Using local to travel between the 2 island totally works even with my same account characters.

I have a physical game, probably should have mentioned that. I'm not too concerned with playing with myself, though. I wanna start from scratch again.

It appears that's a single copy ( 1 license) of the game though. You'll have to buy the game a second time, which will require a second account.

Well I have online play so I don't want to really spend more money buying the 2nd copy so I'll just stick to having a 2nd account and a 2nd online membership.

I gave my sister my switch lite and ended up buying a digital version for her to use and me the game card. From local play we can go back and forth from each island but when I have both digitally downloaded it would not let us do it as it was technically the same game I believe

Yeah, the thing is once you buy the game on the eShop once, you can download it to an indefinite number of Switches, but with digital software, you are purchasing a single-user license to use the software, so it will only run on 1 Switch at a time. If you buy multiple physical or digital copies, you'll have no trouble running it multiple times at once.
